The tool I'm familiar with is Download Helper which is a Firefox extension.
I've also heard of "YouTube Downloader" if you don't have Firefox though. YouTube videos are either .FLV or .MP4, so make sure you have a player that supports those files too. |

I've heard YouTube Downloader will trip some anti-virus programs, due to the stuff that's bundled with it.

Keep-Tube's very good, it's web based not really a program kept on your computer, you can save files in a few different formats & quality including HD & you can also save the audio only in MP3. eg. music of a Music Video or exhaust note/sounds in car video.
Just type keep before youtube in the browser address bar. eg. www.keepyoutube.com/?????? |

Is it legal to download videos though? What if you wanted to download music videos? I would've thought that'd be illegal... no?

My view on music video's is, not illegal to download as you can easily record them from TV show's like Rage, Video Hits, etc

I use "Free youtube downloader"
get to choose any format as well as audio only - and quality up to 1080hd very easy to use
