Saw a Lotus SUV this afternoon. Didn’t know they had fallen so far. Incompetent driver, judged by their piloting - jumping at shadows, riding the brakes, asleep at intersections.

Short terrier hair, thoroughly “woven” over many years into the surface of a ute rear wall carpet. It’s a real pain to remove.

Have been reading about the Lilly Brush which apparently tackles this well, but don’t have time to acquire one for this job.

Had a Detailer do one of our roof linings to remove dog hair, with a blade thingy that worked well.
Was time consuming though.

Lily Brush will work very well, I'd also consider these, anything from Detail Factory is super ergonomic -

This is nothing new, and it doesn't matter what time. Whenever i go to the shop to do the weekly groceries it takes 10 to 15 minutes to find a park as the car park is always packed. Yet i man shop so no browsing in colesworths, i know the row in the isle of what i want so maybe 20 to 25 minutes max, go to the self serve checkout, card only ones, get a bit miffed at why the thing says card only to start then asks how would you like to pay when you want to pay and funnily enough, i always select card as thats the 1 option. Then the thing prints out a receipt as long as my arm even though it should be maybe 4 inches. But go back to the car and car park is empty. It doesn't matter what time i attempt this. Always the same. Rock up, packed car park, ages to find a person backing out (that too, who fronts into spots) back into said spot far away. 25 minutes later come out to a plethera of spots everywhere.

Simple solution, when you feel you need to shop... Wait 25 mins and you'll be sweet as a nut.

The alternative is that you are in a Truman Show-esque nightmare and it matters naught what you do.

Cheers, Tony

Just one of the many reasons why I order my groceries.

…Parcels taking their own sweet time to sit in a depot. I’m hanging out for a repair part and it’s not moved (tracking) since arriving in Australia three days ago. Will probably arrive on the cusp of a week with heaps of rain.

Prob waiting to go through the x ray machine
Overseas tracking often just stops at the Aus airport inbound
Then it’s just surprise and it turns up
I had one last year five weeks Sydney airport to Gc obviously quarantine x ray delays
My latest one was 9 days Sydney airport to Gc- that’s quick on average about 2/3 weeks

A workshop tale of no real winners.

VAG product comes in, about 12 years old, ESP fault. Quick diagnosis determines TRW-made module is the cause, not external inputs. Car gets put in corner for two days as it was a “drop in” and we were busy.

I don’t share the shop owner’s preference for used parts ahead of electronic repairs (90 days warranty vs lifetime, plus vagaries of compatibility). Anyway, not my circus etc. Wrecker part is ordered “It’s plug-and-play, mate” we are assured.

Four days in, we now have a used ESP module alleged to suit. Fitted, bled up. Cannot clear ESP, ABS warnings as module cannot be hard-coded to car with correct VIN for startup self-check. We try three different high end scan tools, no dice. Wreckers send another module out.

Now eight calendar days in, next module swapped in and bled. Same problems, we try a drive test to see if it self calibrates after a period. Nope. Car goes down the road to another chap who thinks he can fix it.

After two weeks, car is returned fixed by said bloke. Invoice is trivial. We test it a final time and the customer is happy to receive their car! Wreckers get redundant module returned.

So - most of four calendar weeks elapsed, our name brand scan tools couldn’t fix it. I didn’t purchase a licenced version of VAGCOM as my laptop is too old for running this aftermarket software.

The quickest solution would have been to first send the faulty module to someone like Injectronics, for diagnosis/repair and if then needed, also have a donor unit sent to them for cloning. Slightly cheaper might have been a used laptop upgrade plus the VAGCOM software (I already have a suitable cable). But it could have taken a day to familiarise with running the program.

So - the job ran on far longer than it needed to. We have no warranty of any merit (wrecker warranties are generally a notion only). The customer ended up with a substantial bill.

Yet on the face of how the car rolled in - you wouldn’t expect these hassles and therefore wouldn’t decline the job at its outset. As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.
