Default Anyone in a band?

Just wondering how many here are a member of a band?

I'm not a musician per se (trying to get around to learning guitar), but I do the sound mixing/roadying for a cover band here in the NSW South Coast, called Debaser ( http://www.debaser.net.au ).

Anyone else play in a band? Post a link to your website of you have one.
It would be interesting to see who plays in what bands around the country.

If this thread isn't acceptable for the BAR, I apologise.

i was in a cover band called "friXion" (**** i know) and we had a residency at shooters or 8 shots in narre warren (now fourteen 22) as well as playing other various shitholes, definatly not as fun as it sounds. it was a waste of a year of my life and unless your playing 5 nights a week @ 3k a gig theres heaps eaiser ways to make money.and if your doing it for the love of music your mad.

My neighbour is in a band and he invites all his mates over to practice. Pity they can't play. Pity they can't sing. And pity they have to practise till 10 O'clock at night. I hate it. People who play in a band and are too tight to spring for a studio, and inflict their music on everyone around them, should be run over by a bus.

I play trumpet in a few different bands around Brisbane and the Gold Coast regularly. There is a covers band in Brisbane called 7th House, another covers band called Capitol Groove (we do more corporate stuff), and then at the Gold Coast I play in a Latin band called Latin Fire twice a week at clubs and stuff.

It's all pretty hard to juggle with uni haha. But making money always takes priority!!

You don't need to play 5 nights a week to make a living out of it, you just need the right gigs and don't accept anything for under a certain amount of money, that's how I do it. I've never had a "proper" job in my life, gigs is how I make my living and it works for me.

been in a couple of bands. ive been playing guitar for about 11 years

of course i did the school band etc.

then went into a metal/jazz fusion band. called "DeathJazz"

now im in a band called "Whyte Vyper" doing 80's type metal. we are gonna change our name as its a blatant rip off of whitesnake. AND we are doing a lot more technical/death/crossover type stuff rather than just 80's rock metal.

anyway, www.myspace.com/whytevyper some songs up there. very poorly recorded hahah. just our old 80's inspired stuff. good for a laugh haha

Been playing in bands for about ten years on and off.

Just finished up with a band we were playing a lot of funky/bluesy/rocky stuff. Audioslave, Zepplin, Soundgarden, Joplin. Our singer is female and she is getting ready for the HSC so the lads are back together now.

We start rehearsals on Friday night in our new 90's cover band. Playing Pearl Jam, Alice in chains, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins ECT.

AAaarrrr good times

Some of our older acoustic stuff can be found here. www.myspace.com/kranskyband

Yep, been in bands for around 7 years. The band Im in at the moment is 1000 years wide, and we play the far north coast of NSW, and SE QLD area. We play stuff like AC/DC, Gunners, Chisel, Audioslave, Foo Fighters, Blink 182 etc.

I play guitar in my band in Canberra. We don't rehearse near Bucky, lol. I love it, it's great fun playing gigs, rehearsal is fun with the guys and I get to use some of my toys.

As a matter of fact, I just bought another guitar, first in ages, coming from the UK, woo hoo!!

I was in a band for 5 years, and toured OZ for 2 of those, lots of fun, but I just got sick of being away from home for a month straight come home for a week and do it all again.
As I said, loads of fun.
Oh, and the money is shitty!
