If it was come from Mt Ousley way ... I'd say it probably ran out of brakes by the time he got to the roundabout ... looked like an old truck as well.

Maybe they took the meaning of Drive Thru a bit too serious.

Damn ... he really made a mess.
I am presuming he came from down the hill though. Must have been going a hell of a pace to get that far through the carpark though.

I feel sorry for Ambulance Rescue and their lack of funding and old trucks... until I see a Police Rescue truck that is. :(

When we are in Woollongong, we often visit the Hungry Jacks on the same site. It's safer, and the burgers are better.

I was at that intersection about 30 sec before that happened. I had to wait a bit just to get out of gateways carpark. How he didnt take out about 30 cars i will not know. Because there was cars banked up almost to the small roundabout. All i can think is that they must have got a green light before he came barrelling down through the intersection.

I was under the impression the truck had come down the hill from the My Ousley off ramp ... I don't remember traffic lights being up there ... unless they are new.

can't remember now but along time along there used to be a safety ramp besides the off ramp filled with sand. for those who ignore the speed limit and find them in the sand pit. luckily i wasn't involved, i finished work ten minutes later. i usually go there for lunch as its walking distance from my work and its cheap. good thing when i left my boss calls me up on my mobile to check if i was ok. yes, i am.... as i headed straight home for lunch instead. my tummy's growing so i better cut down on maccas. |

The safety ramp is still there on the left next to the massive artistic Wollongong steel sign ... just before the exit ramp that heads down to Maccas. It's back up on Mt Ousley Rd though.
Well it was last time I was down that way.

i reckon instead on smashing into maccas, he should have smashed into the set of cars parked kerbside outside the Gateway Holden dealership. Then there would have been less people injured and less $$$ damaged to property. i usually go to that maccas so i wished it didn't happen.

Glad I wasnt there either. The section of road (60 zone) leading to the roundabout isnt that steep and it has a first roundabout before the Macca's one. Im wondering how or when it lost its brakes?. If it was earlier down Mt Ousley there is a big sand trap to catch trucks before they can run into trouble at the bottom. Surely if the brakes were on the way out it would have showed going down the very steep (80km/h) part before the exit where trucks are supposed to be doing only 40km/h?
