Default ACE ute PB 12.58 at Heathcote

Went up to Heathcote today to play crewchief on Chris’s black blown beast and to have a few runs in my BA XR8 ute. On Saturday morning I put an old 4.10 ratio diff in it that Chris threw at me to see if I like it (he said it’s in the way here on my floor see how it goes.) So with the suspension very low and at full weight with only slicks and front runners the following happened.

1st run 1.77 60ft 12.70 @ 106.89
2nd run 1.94 60ft 13.03 @ 106.58
3rd run 1.92 60ft 12.93 @ 109.33
4th run 1.98 60ft 13.05 @ 105.88
5th run 1.99 60ft 12.96 @ 109.49
6th run 1.82 60ft 12.84 @ 110.13 Chris driving
7th run 1.81 60ft 12.74 @ 107.94 Chris driving
8th run 1.71 60ft 12.58 @ 110.13 Chris driving
9th run 1.77 60ft 12.65 @ 110.40
10th run 1.83 60ft 12.67 @ 110.51
11th run 2.19 60ft 13.14 @ 108.10

A lot of runs with varying 60 footers and ET’s but when your playing with tyre pressures, rpm take off’s, no suspension and full weight there were some pleasing results. Again playing R&D on my own car there was a lot learned today for future development. Had a new killer clutch in the car from Textralia which proved to be just that killer, thanks Peter. The engine remains stock at this stage and has only been opened for billet oil pump gears. After today I think the bug has bitten to put some cams etc in this car and go after 11 second ET’s. Also today showed me that Chris can actually drive a manual, I thought his licence was only for driving auto’s. All in all a very busy weekend with my wife taking out the winners trophy, $1200.00 prizemoney from G & D Performance for winning the LS1/LS2 bracket at Saturdays ALL Holden nationals and a runners up trophy in the chicks bracket. Also Chris has some big news regarding his achievements today which i will leave for him to post.

Cheers Craig

well done craig, are you thinking of stripping it out for next friday night? that thing seems like a rocket, maybe give up the 3v for a few months? bring the 260 record down to a low 12.

Hey Bren, i was after you dude but couldn't quite get there, no not going to calder for a while until a few weeks after the startline gets repaired. Got another 3V project on the go just waiting for some some parts from the US.

I pretty much just tried a few things in preperation for the AFF drag day in Sydney next weekend not chasing records at this stage......

Also, I'd like to thank both you and Chris for everything you did for Mark and I today. We weren't prepared for what happen to the XR8 and if you guys weren't there, we certainly would have been in quite a pickle.

Again, thankyou! We owe you guys a slab :

Good luck next week!!

Yes you're right about the 0.03, Chris said after he ran the 12.58 "come on lets strip the f....r and go after the record, seat out, exhaust off, tailgate off come on lets go man". I said no couldn't be stuffed lets get your heap into the 10's....

Might go after it in Sydney on sunday.

Craig managed another PB today at the GT/AFF private day at WSID 12.49 not sure exact mph for that pass but all day was between 109-112mph othe than a couple of dodgy timing board 106's with a 1.71 60ft.

And thanks heaps for the drive mate that clutch is awsome.

We were discussing this the other day and because of the oil pump gears, I think he classes it as opened.

Yep,

It was great to catch up with Craig today. It's a long way for Craig to travel, so I was pleased he managed to top his previous PB.

The car is so basic and full weight; I can’t congratulate Craig enough with his ability to get that thing really hauling like it does!

The car has so much potential, I reckon with a few more tweaks to the overall set-up, this car will certainly be brushing the 11’s very soon in its current unopened trim, all the time whilst keeping its perfect daily driving manners.

It’s just a nice car!

Pete.

Goodness, my second post and I'm about to start an argument;

Fixing up a known factory problem without increasing HP, really shouldn't be called opened. Don't you think?

It's not like the heads come off, crankshaft out or anything too severe!

It's just and external driven pump set which happens to lay behind a couple of cover plates right?
