Default Drag Right

For the record I have just been recruited into Drag Right so look out for my ugly noggin soon in one of those slightly modded donor cars.......... :

Good news is Rob Herrod is working on putting a BOSS290 into the XR8 and FPV are going to stick a Typhoon powertrain into the Turbo ute :

I'm pretty sure it's the program they run at Calder park where they run previous model police cars driven by police. It's to help promote legal off street drag racing. I remember last time I was there one of them put a VX SS into the wall.

No bloody luck. Third meeting and still no run in one of these cars. First outing was rained out, second no time, third, the only car working tyres start to peel off....................... : : : : : :

I know Drag Right has been asked to attend Ford Forums day 9th. I hope they get some tyres before Saturday for the SS and none of the Fords are currently running.....sad state of affairs. Hopefully next meet a the Turbo ute with drif6 running gear will be going and the XR8 can do some runs without snapping cv joints and they are going for future FF meet....... _

now that is a stupid thing, the government wants people to "drag right" yet spend all this money on speed cameras and make the program have to get donor parts, it's a joke

DOC, thanks very much mate, just read PM and will be in touch shortly. Another interesting point with Drag Right is the time from crew/drivers is also donated.

This Thursday at Ford, FPV hand the newly fitted out Turbo ute, to Operation Drag Right.

From what I have been told same team who brought us the DRIF6 have kitted out our T with phoon powertrain and better tune etc.

The newly fitted out T will be attending at Calder Park this Friday night.

I plan to be at both the launch and running of the ute :thebirds:

DOC, I have been busy of late, but will speak to Inspector..

The E-Series guys where rained out last night so they all got free pass outs to attend this Friday Night as well.

Will this car have the all Police Stickers on it........?

Last time I saw a Police Car Drag was a Yellow VL Commodore - its still kept at Calder Park - they should bring it out to play again as well.

All the Drag Right cars have the stickers and lights. This ute has already raced, but stock form only. BF with 6 speed auto. The XR8 should be there also. The commonwhore is out getting some issues ironed out.

Smokey was the original police drag car. There are now 5 smokeys I think. They are just race plates. The ute had trade plates to get it to Attwood for photo shoot and back. I understand the ute and crew will feature on future FPV/Ford magazine, not sure which one and also some local papers in the Hume area.

Little bit of an update with Drag Right.

Some of you may have seen footage in Victoria last night on the new hoon legislation etc. One of Victoria Polices pro active initiatives is Operation Drag Right. This featured last night on all news channels. Those that watched channel 2 news may have seen me in our black Herrod enhanced XR8. Drag Right as stated is run from donated cars, parts and services. We are lucky to have such organisations on board such as Marathon Foods, Herrods, Prodrive, just to name a few. I am also happy to announce that Themboys Auto, also a proud sponsor here, have joined those supporting us.

I look forward to future drives, in much cleaner and shinier cars thanks to Pete and Themboys Auto.

Thanks Champ, but more importantly the thanks go the other way, we are just happy that these guys are happy to have us on board.

There are many out there that do the talk when it comes to helping out and trying to do the right thing and promote safe driving etc for our kids, but these guys are special, after speaking with a few of these guys they are passionate about helping kids do the right thing and supporting them, they are matching the talk with the walk, and we just happy to do the walk with them.

I hope others that are able to help these guys out will also help and if you are one of the kids lovin a bit of speed ( i know i did as a kid and still do) , touch base with these guys and learn to do it the right way and

DragRight, the Track is Cool, On the Street your a Fool.

I also look forward to ( with some volunteer help if it's there ) maybe shooting around the country and helping the kids with some general cleaning tips etc if they will have me, so we can keep these drag cars in top order.

My colleagues in WA also have a Police Drag Racing Team up and running. Their force command won't allow police symbols etc on the cars. Pretty bloody stupid, but they are having a go. Here are some pics!!

"We have received a second vehicle from GM Holden Ltd, a brand new 2004 GTO Pontica Coupe. She is full USA spec (left had drive, LS1, 6sp manual) and the only one of her kind in WA and possibly Aust. (see attached)."
