The M7 makes it a hell of a lot easier to get through Sydney suburbs now .... it's great.

You have a choice when you get near Newcastle ... you can go inland via the New England Highway (boring ... quicker ... but longer) ... or the coastal road (Pacific Highway ... shorter ... but take a little longer ... more speed cameras).

I prefer the coast road as it is better on the eyes and not so boring.

Drop in and see some Sydney folk on the way through too.

If you want to get there quick and avoid most cameras,
Hume Hwy
Putty Rd
New England.

Not very scenic, but Putty is a somewhat interesting.

If your going to the goldy, forget the New England, the Pacific is your friend; New England is OK for Brisbane, but for Goldie, Pac would be a better option, especially for Coolangatta/Tweed.

I'm also going to suggest taking the Pacific up.

The pac is my preferred route. its pretty scenic, and there are only a few patches of bad road. I dont really like the new england hwy, far too hilly and yuck to my liking (mind you, ive only ever done the NE once... pac probably 20.)

When youre up in the sunshine state, gimme a buzz, im up and down from Brissy to GC weekly, and bi monthly im bris-syd, so i may well cruise up with you.

on a very good run up the pac, youre looking 8-8.5 hours from Parramatta, Sydney, on a bad run anything up to 14 is not unheard of. When i moved up i was towing close to 2 tonnes, driving at night made it in 10 hours flat point to point.

Ohhh nooooo not another Victorian, you’re going to have to bring your own water supply.

LOL only joking I came up from Vic 15 years ago and never went back.

Should be a sweet drive up especially in a AU. How long are you up for?

The pacific hwy is the crappest road ive been on lol but it was the easiest way to qold i went up in feb this year to the GC and bris didnt have many probs but it is notoorious for crashes i seen 2 in the space of 5 mins took us about6hrs from bris to port macquarie and 10 from port to albury (NSW/VIC) border took the coast up and back might be a tad longer but its worth it

go the coast road. took me 12 hours to get from campbelltown to northside of brisbane, including food, fuel and a slight problem stop...

the inland way is only slightly longer, but is sorta boring.
