Default 100km/h = 1200rpm is this right

i have a 5 speed CFI EA and i just fitted a tacho to it and in top gear doing 100km/h it's sits on around 1200rpm. and i have got the tacho switched on the 6 cylinder setting because if i switch it on the other setting the revs drop even lower

I thought those were the revs usually out of a 6 speed. Maybe its your diff ratio

Should be up around 2000rpm. You need to take the tacho needle off, and move it around 1/4 turn.

in the BF with the ZF, it sits on about 1700ish rpm at 100km/h in sixth.

my EBII wagon 3.23 LSD and 4 speed auto sits on 1750-1800 in top gear at 100km/h so a 5 speed + a 2.73 might get 1500 i would have thought

It's possible your speedo is wrong and you're not doing 100 KPH when it reads that

I like that theory. Have you hd the speedo checked, 10km/h can make a good 200rpm or so difference.
