Default intermitant fan fault?

Hey! First post and its a problem :(

got my 89 EA and when driving along the ac blower fan sometimes kicks in and out at random, it does it if ac is on or off, so the ac isnt the problem, and if I put it on setting 4 it doesn't happen, I guess this is because '4' must mean full 12V power and its only when the slower speeds are selected it kicks in and out, like if you go over a bump it will cut out, then go over another bump and it kicks in again kinda thing!

must be a loose connection on a resisitor pack for the fan somewhere, but where to look for it?

thanks for the help, and great site!

Sounds like the fan speed controller is on the fritz.

Its located in the heaterbox, but can be accessed without removing the dash, you'll have to remove the glovebox, and possibly the piece of dash around it.
