Default Christmas Plans

Christmas is only 2 weeks away and most people will be taking their annual leave from work. I was wondering what people had planned for their break.

I am off to Adelaide with my family to visit my grandmother. She's about to hit 85, and travel is not so easy for her. So we are heading out Christmas night to drive a few hours, find a hotel then make the rest of the trip to Adelaide on Boxing day. We are spending 5 nights in Glenelg to be home new years eve. After that I have 1 more week off in which to do a few things around home.

That's gonna be my christmas. How about yours. travelling anywhere with the family?

I know a few people who are on call over the christmas period. I hope it's a quiet one for you.

I'm being invaded by a bunch of queenslanders (who's no doubt bringing some xxxx to infect my kitchen) and spending 2 weeks most likely working on a lovely beer gut!

Hopefully opening up my new workplace on Boxing Day, so I dare say Christmas Day is going to be a very busy one for me.

My Wife's mother lives in the Central Coast, and usually we go up there, and this week won't be any different. Boxing day we usually drive up, but this year, we are leaving the day after (the 27th), because the Wife's Father and his wife (parents separated) have baggsed Boxing Day, so I have no choice. Fortunately, My family lives locally, so the long walk to the Christmas table, and the stumble home is easier than driving to Forresters Beach.

Austin, good luck. I wish you all the best in your new Business Endeavor.

I get either three or four days off for Christmas (depends on how much of a b!tch my boss feels like being).

It will just be my parents, and grandparents over for lunch, and then sometime in the afternoon my uncle and his wife will come over to stay for dinner, and they may or may not bring my brat 2nd cousins.

I have a really small family, and I'm usually the youngest one there, so our christmas day is really boring now.

My plan is to do nothing. Just the usual family get together.

Is it just me, or is Christmas actually a hassle this year???

It just doesn't feel like Christmas at all...

Half your luck, lol. I get the public holidays off but the week between Xmas and NYE i have to come into the office. Its a good time to catch up, its the only week of the year when NO work comes through the door. It sucks though, no coffee shops are open, nowhere to get lunch or caffeine... means I have to make my own.

For the xmas weekend i'm disappearing. Lol, not to get too D & M on the forums but my family kinda went its seperate ways a few years back and christmas is a fairly ugly time. So I'm filling the car up with fuel and hitting the highway, get outta town for a couple of days. Should be nice.

I will have my Mother over for the day, she lives in a retirement home. I was invited by my Son to his place for Chrissie day but my Ex wife is going again this year and she made things tough for me last year and I dont want that again, ruined a good day.

I have the Public's off but will work the rest.

I did buy myself a gift this year, an electric chainsaw.

I took 14 days as of January 3rd, but that soon turned into 17 days with a mandatory 3 days between Christmas and new year, whilst the department is closed down. With public holidays and weekends I ended up with a month off.

I'll relax, and do the family thing over the first week (Christmas), then take a few days to organise some stuff before fulfilling my duties with Summernats, then a couple of weeks of working on the radio station, the car, and some TV/movies, before heading back to the madness of IT Support (for a few days before the Australia Day long weekend).

Best wishes to everyone for an enjoyable and safe festive period.

I'm leaving soberland and heading to my holiday house on the corner of rum and coke in boozetown.
All visitors are welcome as long as there are scantily clad women (I have a paddle pool) and you bring extra booze in case I run out.
I promise I'll make the girlie drive to the bottl'o so I don't get busted.
