Default EB2 selector problems??

Hello,
I had a problem today in my 5 speed EB2 I was in 5th gear at 90km/h, went to put it in 4th & there was nothing there. It wasn't going into ANY gear at all.

I pulled over to the side of the road, stopped, gave it a shake to get something & when I put my foot off the clutch it stalled so I must have been in something.

I've owned the car for 6 years, & now it's done 270K apart from firewall problems in the past generally very reliable.

Could it be a problem with the clutch? or maybe a something worse.

Any feedback would be great.

Cheers.

Could be lots of things.

Is it the first time it's happened? Is the clutch properly adjusted?

can you get it into 4th now ? 270 k's if it's the original box, probly be due for a rebuild, or was it still smooth and tight. If so i'd be looking at the clutch.

not much help, sorry.

Happened on Tuesday as well. Seems to only happen when it's at least 32C. All gears smooth except 5th starting to crunch a little.

The oil I'm using is Shell Helix Plus 15W-50.
I changed it about 2,000 kms ago. Is there a better oil anyone would recommend other then Shell.

Many thanks.

Yeah good point. It was serviced about 8000 kms ago by Shell.
A stupid question but where do I check the g/box oil?

Drivers side, feel about 1/2 way up the box you'll find 2 plugs ones a drain (The lower one).
the higher one is the fill point/level.

Thanks for that. Do I need to put the car up on ramps to do it, like dumping the oil?
