Default Snow!

So, who experienced the snow today? We did at uni, and Churchill is only 50m above sea level! It snowed for hours and we got really huge flakes.

This has never happened before here, and the last time it snowed in the region, it was in the hills behind churchill 10-15 years ago.

What a great day! We skipped half our classes to have snowball fights & to tobboggan down the hillside out: We also made a snowman :

Spewin I didn't bring my digi, but my mates took plenty of shots on their phones. Will try & load some pix up if I get them off them.

I heard it snowed in Frankston and Essendon too... Can anyone confirm this? How weird is this weather?!?

Was it snow in Frankston? Or did a drug lab just explode showering the area in cocaine.

My sister goes to uni at Churchill. (At least Monash didn't make her move to Clayton). She messaged me to say it was snowing. I wish I was there to see that. She said she's taken some photos though, so I can't wait to see them.

At Clayton, all we got was a brief downburst of hail. It came down pretty quick, and left plenty of hail all over cars and stuff. It was pretty funny when one of my friends scooped up a heap of hail off a car and made something that resembled a snowball. He threw a fair few of these at other friend's windows.

A lecturer in a 2nd story room opened his window to take some pictures, and my mate sconned him a beauty :P

Another mate stole a table from a classroom to use for surfing down the hill

Anyhoo, here are the links to some pix I took from around home/town at dusk. It was raining when I got home so most of the snow had melted or been washed away :( Pity...

I just had the worst shower of my life.

Snowing and freezing so i thought id have a shower and thaw out - bad idea. Got in, soaped myself up, was all good then it went dead cold (hot water service had blown out during the day). Had to stay in to get the soap off with ice cold water, now i think i am entirely frozen!

GRR!

Great photos Dave, that is absolutely insane. I never thought I would see the day when it would snow at Churchill. A good argument against global warming.

I work in Clayton Sth, and we got Sweet FA there. It was bloody cold though. When I start complaining it's cold at work, it has to be! Still had one driver who wore shorts and a polo shirt - bloody mad.

I heard there was some snow in Sth Yarra and perhaps the city. Some more in Moe and Leongatha according to our drivers.

There was bit in Canberra this moring. If you cant see it you surely can feel it. Bloody hell Canberra has such extremities when it comes to climate.

Too cold in winter and too hot in summer. Middle ground doesnt even come into the equation in regards to climate here.

I'll make it as far as Traralgon tonight, but not to the Jeeralangs... if it's still around Friday night though i'll be checking it out.

The uni would be fully sik with snow and tables and access to beer and hills.... imagine the sh!t we coulda got up to, and that you probably did get up to :hihi:

The news last night reported that it snowing in Bathurst and I was cranky because we just moved away from there and it never snowed while we were there. But I rang a friend there and she said it never snowed at all. Lying weathermen! :P
