Default Go to last post issues

Hi team,

Lately when I hit the small 'go to last post' button it often does not get me anywhere the last post, for example when I look at the 'show and shine' forum, it will only take me to mid-way down the second last page. It not only in the 'show and shine' forum, but seems to be happening in all parts of the forum.

Is this a problem with the website or specific to my computer?

Mark

I don't seem to have that issue. I am using Internet Explorer. Could have something to do with your browser maybe?

i have to say it's a combination of your system and your net speed..

this p4 comp i'm on is slow to load the page or done with errors, but it does end up at last post "eventually"/

no issue's with the quad core anywhere on this sight..

note: jpg, gif, pages exacerbate the problem..

nope that’s not the issue on my computer as it loads pages fast. It also would not explain on some larger threads with many pages, it only goes to the middle of the third or second last page, not last post on last page.

Anyone have an answer....

Mine has started doing it now, i click on the last post and i am taken to the same post on the same page, dosen't matter how many posts (or pages) have been made after it

Eg: i click on the last post here http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...39#post3729339 and it always takes me to post #47 which is on the previous page, i then have to scroll down to select the last page....

It's not happening on all threads tho, just the above one in the pits and the current popular one in the DR so far....

Mine is doing it now too. I just checked out the AFF Drag day thread and it took me half way up the page.

It doesn't appear to do it when I click it through Subscribed threads or when I go into a sub thread and click...only seems to do it if I click off the front page. Very odd.

Oooh.. I never realised that it does that... :/

All it does is take me to the last page of the last post, that's it...

Just tried that with the Epic fail thread...and it epically failed

Took me to the middle of the thread.

Oh well, I am sure Russ will get it sorted

I've randomly tried about 20 threads of varying lengths in the Pub, Site Support and Bar and they all go to the last post - albeit after a small delay when it sometimes looks as if it is going to stop somewhere else.

I'll try an alternate browser (this is Firefox) and see what happens.

Cheers
Russ

Hi Russ,

I have tried it on the AFF drag thread again and it is taking me to half way down the page the first time I try.

It takes me to the last post on the second try. I can send you screen shots if you like? I am using IE8

Cheers
Col

Edit: My post count is set to show 30 posts per page.

I just checked that thread in all 3 Windows browsers.

In IE7 it went to the last page but stopped a couple of posts before the end.

In Firefox 3.6.17 it went to the last post.

In Opera 10 it went to the last post.

I'm set at 40 posts per page, linear mode.

Cheers
Russ

So it would appear it is an IE issue then?

I tested it, changing number of posts displayed and the display modes...doesn't appear to make any difference.

guys if i understand you correctly, you're talking about the blue right arrow button on the right side of your subscribed threads list yes? This button takes you to your last post in that particular thread, give or take a post or two depending on the browser. Thus putting you on the second last page, or half way down etc. The other option is 'go to last page' in any thread with more than two pages i believe.

Or am i missing what you're talking about?

Tested and working on the latest versions of:

Firefox 4
Chrome
Opera
IE

Well in my case I use the em notice to go to the thread in the past it has always taken me to that post that I've had notice of.
For about ten days or so now it hasn't it takes me to where I first entered the thread, which in the case of the 'will house prices crash' thread is page 109 and the thread was upto page 118 when I went there last time.
This is happening with other threads I'm in also.
There are other sites I visit and its not happening with them.
I did do a quick search of the net a few days back and found that a version of vbulletin does have problems like this.
Unfortunately can't remember which,so will have another look today.

Happens to me when using the blue box (go to first new post) at the left of the heading, to threads I have not subscribed to at all.
