Default Your Australia Day Setup: Car related

So the national day of bogan pride is coming up next week.
The day where hundreds of drunks take to their streets for some fully hektik burnouts in their VK commodores to post on youtube.
The day where the beaches are jam packed with almost everyone within a 50km radius
The day where a ute that isn't covered in Australian flags and bundy rum stickers just looks weird and out of place :\

So with that in mind what is everyones ideas for Australia day?
And what have you done for past Aussie days?
Biggest Aus flag attached to a car wins some rep!

This will be my first Aus day with my license, so I'll be sporting two 5 foot Australian flags on each side of my tray.

Aussie pride stickers?
Sheesh man thats a bit over the top don't you think?

By the way might actually be getting 8 foot long flags.

I kid!

I know what you mean tho, most people use this day to start fights and get hammered on the beach all in the name of being "Australian"
But hey, It's the one day of the year i get to do something totally out there to my ute, so hey, I'm just gonna' jump on the band wagon!

I don't know about you guys but I'm going to wear my Australian flag boardies, oversized poofy sunglasses, and traipse around with the Aussie flag I'm wearing as a cape dragging unceremoniously in the dirt. Then I'm gonna get wasted on Jim Beam tinnies and bash some foreign-looking people! Aussie Aussie Aussie!

It's funny you know, I haven't found too many people with as long an Australian lineage/heritage as myself (7th gen non-convict) apart from the natives, and yet I feel absolutely 0 desire to stick a southern cross sticker on anything.

Count me in too. I'm 8th gen Aussie with no convict blood and I don't get the whole Southern Cross/Aussie pride thing. There's nothing wrong with being patriotic because Australia is a pretty awesome country, but I thought we moved on from the whole Straya Day bogan thing.

Get over it people. Chucking flags up everywhere isn't my cup of tea either, but if someone wants to get in the spirit, whats the problem?

I think about how lucky (for the most part) we are on Australia day but then that is always on my mind Australia day or not. I've got no sympathy for the idiots that use the day simply to get drunk and hurt others and also find it incredibly disrespectful when they choose to wear our flag while doing so. I work in a place that allows me access to these people when they hurt themselves and on Australia day last year I recall about 90% of them has Aussie flag boardies or singlets or thongs or whatever. Of course that doesn't mean everyone wearing some form of the flag is an idiot but there is something there.

counting all aussi gear wear'ers and counting the most likely small minority of trouble makers and tarninshing us all with the same brush is a bit unfair..

Yes a small minority do ruin it.. BUT!..

same can be said of idiot drivers compared to "Enthusiasts"..

I'll be doing the same thing I've been doing on Australia Day for the last 12 years, attending the annual BVRC classic car "rally" (cruse). It's been getting bigger each year with 572 vehicles attending last year's event.

A guy at work has the usual southern cross sticker on his car, I asked him he we were working on Australia day and he goes "What's that the 28th isn't it?"

It's just a normal day to me. Wish I was working then at least I will get over time rates.

If I'm driving in my car, it's usually with the window down yelling at other motorists running around in foreign cars with the flags attached to them.

And any Commodores post VK with them on too. And any other Holdens for that matter.

And any Fords that aren't Falcons.

In your Australian made Pajero cobber?

I heard a story that Pajero was spanish for.........something to do with abusing people for no reason other than they don't fit in with a narrow myopic mindset.

Just got the el-cheapo flags stuck to the rear side windows (made in china of course!).

I hope this thead doesnt turn into a Aussie or non Aussie bashing thread. I'm not from Cronulla in Sydney, but the business owners i deal with there still feel shame about what happened. Lets move on, enjoy the day anyway you like (stickers, flags, getting ****ed if ya want) and be thankful of a free day of work, well for most of us

Oi! cubed

If only they knew the wrong it is to let the flag touch the ground. Its funny, people need training to handle the flag.

Add another to your list.

If its hot (usually is) take the family down to beach in the morning (leave by 10:30-11:00) then spend the day with family, in the park for a bit and kick a footy (AFL), play a little cricket or maybe throw a baseball around. Head home and enjoy a quiet BBQ.

I know damn well my POS isn't made in Australia. I'm not going to drape it in the Australian flag like every other person with a narrow myopic mindset either.

Guess I'm getting alot more angrier now than I ever was.

I'm a proud Aussie on Australia day, I raise a flag off the side of the gazebo and enjoy a BBQ, beers, a swim and a good catch-up with friends and family somewhere on a friendly beach.

First sniff of an 18yo, drunk, burnt, loud ****** and we're looking for somewhere else to enjoy the day.

I trust that you would have a bit more upstairs, but last year some clown actually did this, strapped two 8 foot long flags to his ute, took off from the lights with the flags caught in the rear wheels

IMO he who has the biggest Australian flag or the most Australian flags attached to their car wins mentality has gone way over the top.

As for me, safe and sound in the back yard with family, a few mates, few beers and a whole lotta lamb chops on the barbie.
