BP Ultimate, even though it is the same as Mobil 8000!!!
Next time you go to a BP retailer in Vic (cant speak for other states), look at the seals on the elbow join of the 95 octane nozzle of pumps. Cant imagine what this stuff is doing to seals inside a motor..... Don't buy this stuff peoples!!!!!!!!!
91 and 98 OK.

I'd say the same fuel that was best in your fuel thread two months ago, it shouldn't go off that quick.....

I'd say most people honestly couldn't tell the difference if they didn't know what was in the tank.
Any difference will be from the bowser it came from.

There's nothing like the smell of an LPG or CNG engine on a cold morning! :P

The servo where I started my apprenticeship about 6 thousand years ago used to have AVGAS on a pump...which later got changed to a Zoom (mower fuel for those under 30) pump... :

Diesel and LPG here. Both cheaper than using petrol. LPG is cheaper per kilometre by a whisker over the diesel.

I have trouble with the Vortex 98 and get less kays per tank on the stuff than the Vortex 95 - tried different tanks on the same trip with the same first click refill - worked out I was doing less on the 98 than the 95. The EB XR8 hates anything 91 though!!

Shell was ok but got bad starting from it and woeful on the Liberty 98 - it stank and the soot on the back pipe was pitiful.

Wont touch BP with a 10 foot pole out of principal as they are the that control the Singapore price...besides they ruined a $12000 engine of my fathers when the diesel tank decided to take in water from the water table and fill his tank with creek water(was a 8 litre Chev oil burner in a Landcruiser - cost BP a fortune in a new motor from the USA, another tank of fuel plus the new tank and all anscillary fittings like new fuel lines/pump($4500!!), fitting the new motor and all, court costs and a fine to the operator of the business for not checking his tanks). Hate is a strong word but thems the breaks.

That all said - my mini loves nothing but BP Ultimate(old school mini too)so I do use the BP in that - kinda fitting as it is a pommie car!

Windsors dont like 91 RON...lol

Well you've just proved one of the best things about BP, their fuel guarantee.

If that happened at another servo/refiner, your father would've got didly squat. He could've gone to court but the fuel company (unless they were feeling generous) wouldn't have paid, they don't have to, the servo operator probably would've had to pay, but could've been hard getting the money, that cost would be a big hit to operating costs, not just profits, could've even been enough to go broke & shut him down.

BP are the only fuel company that has a fuel guarantee, guaranteeing the quality of their fuels. Personally I would be praising & supporting BP for what they did for your father, becasue things could've been a whole lot worse.

If BP guarantee their fuel why were they taken to court ?. They should have paid of their own accord.

I'd be praising the Magistrate that ordered them to pay up.

Maybe the OP's father went straight to legal action, or didn't meet the requirements for the fuel guarantee?
Maybe the Magistrate told BP as they guarantee their fuel they have to pay, even if on a technicality the OP's father didn't do what was required to meet the fuel guarantee?
As I said before the servo owner was responsible, & would've had to pay, but another fuel company isn't legally (AFAIK) required to pay as they have no guarantees on their fuel (unless incorrectly refined, not to meet the fuel standards), it's more or less buy at your own risk.

The BP fuel guarantee can be read here BP Fuel Guarantee

Yepp but it took BP nearly 6 months to finalise - they were dragging their heels and Dad resorted to the Courts as a last resort. BP guarantee is only good for when they get caught out.

All good though - they had to fix it...all done and said so not a big deal anymore - and wiont use BP until the mini is back on the road...lol

Most people would say BP and I would of myself, until I started using Mobile 8000. Now I get way better MPG and the car idles smoother.
