Hey,
Thought I'd post up a couple of pics of the trike I'm working on. Rear rims are Commodore 15 x 7's (don't hold that against me!) that have been spoked up with push bike spokes. Frame is 1 and a quarter inch exhaust tubing with the bends being done by the exhaust shop. 'Suspension' is 7 inch trampoline springs. Seat is plywood, foam, and black vinyl with a steel back. Still need to trim the handlebars down a bit but want to ride it first to see what the best position is. Next step is drivetrain. Then gym as is getting heavy.   |

With spokes like the that on the rear wheels I'd say it will be pedal power

Thanks everyone.
In terms of brakes, thinking of having a centre hub that is a foot operated back pedal type hub to act as brakes. Then running a chain from the centre hub to the rear axle. I know these brakes are normally found on kiddies BMX's but it should do the job..... :togo: |

See if you can find a cheap secondhand Hydraulic disc set-up off a mountain bike, and adapt it to suite the biggest disc you can find

The 'diff' is that the axle is actually two bits of steel with about a 10mm gaps between the two where they meet. It means traction is only going to go to one wheel, and breaking force if I go for a hub set up, but I don't think traction is going to be aproblem
 I might end up going for a hydraulic mountain bike set up, not 100% sure yet but sort of want to make it out of cheap stuff from the tip which rules out hydraulics.... Might cange my mind after first hill/corner tho. Good spotting Dave351! Can of that a day keeps the dr away. |

So is it just the same wheel always receiving torque? Does it pull to one side under acceleration?
Awesome build by the way. After watching Nitro Circus, I'm half tempted to go out and buy a Big Wheel, this is even better.

 . Although imo it will be way to heavy to pedal with those huge rear rims , unless you add some gears (old gears of a racer pushbike ? ).

Mate! awesome trike! flog the gears of an old MTB! Give you nice easy gears to push the tonne of bike along
I've got a fellow tree-lopper mate who's built a motorised old step thru scooter using a 200T climbers' saw engine- engineering-wise its bloody rough, its loud, and currently fatally fast! Trying to find some sprockets to alter gearing and make it travel at a more sedate pace.. ha ha ha |

Hi Bros,
Finished my trike. Deech. I found it didn't pull to the side under acceleration. I think it is because it is HEAVY. Took it for a ride last week in undercoat so if anything broke I could fix it before painting. Went great but had a few things to fix. So I finished it off in white. Not sure if I'll put some red highlights or something on it yet. I like how stark it is just in white but I'll see what happens. If anyone is interested in building one have a look at the 'atomiczombie' website. You can buy plans or you can buy a book called 'Bike, Scooter and Chopper projects for the evil genius'. The book doesn't have plans or dimensions but sort of talks you through it. Bye. Andrew
