Default Sierra 5 speed

Does anyone know of any difficulties putting a sierra 5 speed in a 1980 1600 4 speed panel van? Or is it a relatively pain free swap?
cheers

as far as i know 5 speeds fit... should probably look into it, but if i remember correctly the sierra 5 speed is like the only 5 speed that can fit in a manual tunnel.

Its basically the same box as the 4 speed with an over-drive so the extension housing is a little chunkier and the shifter hole needs to be a little further back. If you are putting it in a mk 1, you need to space the mounts to sit it lower. Use your original gearbox mount and it should fit ok.
