Default deleting your own threads etc

Hey guys.

Just wondering (as futher on from my post about the for sale forums) that if we can have the option of deleting our own threads without a timelimit.

So i can delete the thread after it is sold or i wanna keep it now without having to PM a mod to do it for me.

Is this viable?

Probably is possible but there are mods in the different section of the forum to look after these issues.

In this case, deleting sold items, editing posts, etc. so that everything is uniform and orderly

so you can post a thread today, delete it tomorrow and make a new thread so your at the top of the pile again - how would that be fair to all the other users?

It wouldn't be if he was the only one to have that privilege, but if everyone could do it then everyone is on a level playing field.

As far as I see it maintaining the integrity of post made and the database itself only mods and admins will have the ability to delete posts/threads

ability to update the inital post would not go astray so we can update items that are sold not sold, add new items ect

What's so bad about sending a PM to a mod to get it done?

Case of "I want it to happen now so let me do it instead of being patient"???

Remember that moderators don't sit on AFF 24/7, they DO have lives outside of here. When they get on, they will fix it up for you.

well a few other forums i am a member of (wont name them as they wont last here for long lol) have the option of the thread starter to edit the first post AND delete the thread completely. and it works perfectly. Maybe make it an option for people who have been a member for a certain time maybe.

I know the mods can do it no worries. But if we can do it ourselves then why bother the mods.

DAVWAY: it is not to do that. I can go post something in the thread anyway to bring it to the top. mods would pick up on you posting the same thing over n over quickly enough anyways.

Rapid_axe: its not for being impatient. it is so the thread owner can do something about it themselves. why is there such a problem with that.

There is a 20 minute delay to allow you to edit a post but the problem I have with keeping it open is that people will, can and do pull a shifty

We already had to ban several long term members because they scammed people on sale items.

unfortuantely the few stuff it for the many

Sorry but thats utter rubbish, there is only 1 site that does not get a mention on this forum, we even help promote individuals that start up their own ford sites.

ok if it is ok then.

other forums for sale areas that have this option i have seen are:
fordlaser.com (have deleted my for sale threads before no worries.)
mp3car.com

and a few others i am no longer a constant member of (no interest anymore)

I know there are people that wreck it for everyone.

How about an option to atleast edit the title AND delete bits of the post. Not to add just to delete.

i know the mods can do it but i am just thinking of making what they do a bit easier. some people might be to lazy to take the time to PM a mod but if they just clicked a button to delete it, might get a few more doing it.

could it be made possible to add to the first post but after the 20 minutes you have to leave the original content so if you are selling the items sold would be in the first post by doing this you would eliminate shonks as ther original words would remain
