Default Fun with Aluminium Sheet Part 2: Battery Cover

I was bored so I decided to take a few measurements and do this:

I made a cardboard template using the measurements and just cut a piece of aluminium (smaller than an A4 sheet) using tin snips, bent the ends down over a rounded table edge, and voila!

Aluminium is conductive, but the sheet doesn't touch the battery terminals. But just to provide a bit of insulation, the underside was sprayed with 2 heavy coats of black primer (i might use a sound deadening spray later). I'll do a bit more trimming around the terminals to give the cover more clearance.

I'll either clear coat the aluminium, or spray it white to match the car.

I have enough material left to make two more covers (supplied unpainted), so if anyone's interested, and will be at SFS this Feb 3rd, let me know.

I like to take a break from the usual chewing gum and gaffa tape "mods" once in a while.

Speaking of which, check out this link!

Looks the goods...

What's wrong with chewie and gaffa tape?? Works great on servers too!

Cover would be great, but I'm a little far to make it to SFS. Thanks for the offer though...
