Default Power Steering Coolers Standard Fitment?

Hey Guys,

After taking the front bumper off the EF to change the trans cooler, I noticed a copper pipe running across in front of the radiator. It leads to the power steering pump, and the other end goes to the rack. I've had trouble boiling the power steering fluid before and was considering fitting a cooler, so now I might run the power steering fluid through the old trans cooler instead.

My question is, do the coolers come standard fitment on E-series, or is it an aftermarket thing?

I've circled it in red in the pic below.

Thanks,

Aaron.

Pretty sure only Sprints and GTs got them. At least in EA-ED.

i have seent that most ef-el's have the same cooler as you have, some have larger ones, similar to tranny coolers.

rare as on earlier e-series. i believe that ed futuras and fairmonts didnt get them as standard.

in that pic you can see it bent up out of the way.
thats the same thats on my EF GLi.

i rmeember when i was over there and you were 'practicing' you had issues with the power steering boiling.
i guess trans cooler is the easiest way to do it.

Aaron, my EF Fairmont 6 came with the same trans and PS cooler setup as yours. I off the ****y trans cooler for an ebay jobbie the other week, i never realised they were so tiny! Probably work great for the PS if you mounted it on the opposite side.
