Tinted Tail Lights

Does any one no how to tint tail lights in an EA?

I think they look mad....

Just a light coating of black spray paint on the inside should do the trick (correct me if i'm wrong, i have not done it before).

P.S. its illegal to tint tail lights etc (if you didnt already know...)

You can get special spray cans for tinting purposes from places like Ricerbarn. Easy as!

But Says for offroad use only... screw that

Yeah I love sprayed tail lights. Nothing like nearly rear ending some tool because he would rather look good than drive a roadworthy car.

I dont suppose the drivers realise that when the sun is behind then you cant see the breaklights at all.

yeh mine are tinted and yeh from the same stuf from autobarn sorry no pics on me atm... fairly easy watch out for runs though cause i got a few and at night wwhen the lights come on it looks lil dodgy but looks tuff! plus i havent had anyone go up my **** yet and havent been hasseled by the boys in blue!

Depends on how dark it is. If its black then its just dangerous, if its just a tint I see no problem with it.

Mine are tinted but the police have never questioned them... even when writing me out a ticket and checking over the car.

for a start its not even legal to do and also if I run up anyones **** that has tinted tail lights then watch out. you will be paying for all the damage done to my car and all further costs that may be involved. trust me it only takes the words 'tinted tail lights' at the insurance place and your ****ed.
and IMO, no it doesnt look tough, it looks stupid in MOST cases (not all)

so much stuf can f*** ur insurance! and i doubt its the first thing that we have ever done that is 'illegal' to our cars. im not startin anything here.. mine are fairly dark but still noticble and have not been rear ended in the 6months or so that they have been done.. im more worried bout the bastards that dont even have em working like a car i was behind today! each to ther own

i think it can look good depends on the car.. the tinting on caspers tail lights looks pretty good and would still be easy to see. its a bit stupid and dangerous if its done really dark and cant see the lights very well.

i did it to my old wagon lights before i got the clear el ones.. it looked ok but i stuffed mine up it had drips as well.

Just clean up the tail lites really well and spray a few coats on, thats enuf to get a nice look, ppl will still see them lite up when u brake and u sholdnt get done by the cops. Some ppl o way to far, to the point where theyre black, thats just nuts.
Has anyone on thses forums wif an EB/D tinited their lites?

I plan to do it as soon as I get my hands on a high series rear garnish.

Has anyone ever heard of an insurance company knocking someone back because of it? Some ricers you see out there have pitch black ones, on the repeaters aswell!

I would like to do a light tint, but I think ill call insurance first. If the light is still clearly visible, thne how could they say no?

So you didnt notice yourself running up the **** of a car becuase his lights were tinted? Nice excuse for not paying attention.
I hate to use engine breaking in front of you. Good luck getting that excuse to stand when battling some-ones insurance co.

Hey guys - you would have read the warnings on the can, stuff like "For offroad use only". They dont put it on there for fun. It is illegal, and as such does void your insurance. Funny that people seem to think because they havent had a crash yet or been picked up by the cops that it is ok.

Its kind of like reading a "Smoking causes lung cancer" sticker and thinking "Ahh bugger that, I have been smoking for X long and I dont have cancer"

If you want to do it nobody here is going to stop you, but if you do get hit from behind you are going to have some explaining to do. It wont matter if the tint caused the accident or not, you have modified you car to reduce the effectiveness of your warning lights.

That's a fair point you make, we could start an argument about how EB lites are darker than EA ones (for example) but the darker EB lites have been certified to certain standards, tinted lites (dark as the user wants them to be) have not.

If you ran up the back of someone and thier brake lights were broken, globes were blown etc. Who would be at fault then? I doubt the blame would fall on the guy in car who got rammed up the **** by someone not paying attention.

S far as I know the only time the person that got rear ended is at fault is when they hit the brakes hard for no reason. This even includes braking for animals rememer that one. I had a mate rear end a guy who had no brake lights and he still had to pay!

He is driving an unroadworthy car. Yes there is the overriding rule "Drive with due care", in these cases instead of it being 100% your fault it is going to be split between both drivers. The driver with blown/tinted lights has to take responsibility for driving an unroadworthy car.

It is not necessarily an issue of not paying attention. If you see brake lights you instantly know what to do and you can react. It takes a moment to realise that the car in front of you is slowing down, and in some situations that can lead to accidents.

peoples peoples, the "official" tint spray is only dark when the lights arent on, as soon as you brake the lights are as clear as day, so no point in arguing that you cant see em, its just cause some people do it the dodgy way and use normal paint.

still it is illegal to do, but hay if ya use common sense like casper and only do it a bit to make em look a tad bit darker then ya should be alright with it
