Hi all,
Ive successfully modified an au windsor intake to my clevo (to use factory top manifold and fuel rail etc). I was going to go with a microsquirt but by the time postage is put on its nearing $900. Haltech 750 is $2k but ive emailed them a couple of times and theyre slow to respond and not that helpful (even though i said from the start i was pretty clueless with this stuff). Microtech looks very difficult to use. Is haltech worth it for the money or are they only helpful when its being filmed for youtube? Its double the price and im not sure (in my fuel only application) that its worth it |

The aim is au top and bottom manifolds, fuel rails, injectors, throttlebody, factory iac and tps running through an aftermarket ecu off the coil negative terminal, running in batch fire.

Haltech is the go to, I've got a Wolf V550 and it's a piece of shit in comparison to the Haltech options, though at the time of its release it was the only aftermarket ECU that included auto gearbox control.

I would have probably chosen a Sniper with an airgap over the setup you are suggesting. The sniper is dead easy to setup and tune. You are going to want to do something about a cold air intake if you haven't already. Port injection won't like running without it.
I would also be looking at ignition control too. That is part of the advantage of electronic engine management.

Wasn’t he just a horrendously stereotyped, racially profiled, archetype of a mouse, in full kit, who happened to just run around a bit ??
Ahem, allow me to articulate the folly of your misguided attempt at a sardonic and ‘witty’ observation. Where you find yourself today, ‘Tonz’ is what is known as a ‘forum’, it provides all who bask in the glory of its agora, the ability to (figuratively of course) stroll leisurely through its topics broad and extensive; reading, learning and connecting, whilst more primarily; adding and aiding in the growth of this wonderful archive. I’m sure that one as sharp and as satirically minded such as yourself, would, no doubt, acknowledge the benefits of any positive and helpful answers, feedback or even leisurely thrown in ‘treasures of knowledge’, to assist in this wonderful real-time depository of information, especially, in this case, as in a prophetical nature, this entire project has long passed its starburst era and has been descending into the entropic nature of the universe, the very millisecond that the last car was delivered from factory to showroom. The wound runs deep in the Australian zeitgeist. Now that the platitudes have been taken care of… your eyes appear to be open, however your own ignorance will give your hand away, everytime. The original post asked for assistance regarding an ECU change out, sometimes those decisions take time… 18months is nothing, it’s taken most of us years and years to tweak, decide, change and adapt to what we want from our projects….. Quite a few of the threads have been running for a very, very long time, that’s what makes them unique and exciting, something for everyone. I candidly observe that the other additions and replies after my shoutout have no mention of how old the original post was. Astonishingly, it appears that the thread pretty much picked up and evolved by itself, to continue on… just as it did millennia ago, in forums with writing on stone. I would argue, as many, many members in these hallowed digital halls would, that if you aren’t taking an appropriate, educated, nuanced and well researched amount of time when you make those decisions, especially modifications as major and essential as a complete ECU change out, on something as precious as our common hobby is…. Then you, my comrade, are in the wrong forum, thread, website and dare I say it, the vast hyper-linked section of whatever internet it is that you occupy. I believe what you are looking for can be found somewhere on a ‘Tesla Virtual Store’, (you can choose your colour and everything!) those modifications are all decided for you and can be immediately implemented, as seems to be your need, they don’t even have any pesky human beings for you to practice your loquacious humour with, I’m sure the Musk AI will keep you amused for hours…... Ad Hominems are simply unimaginative, pedestrian and quite frankly, boring. That, btw was where you caught my brief and passing interest…

I went with a microsquirt. It worked great. Holley wasn't an option because their pricing was/is insane for Chinese garbage (especially both sniper 1 & 2). Haltech didn't have one that could coil trigger, and their prices are also incredible.
"Here's a 5 grand blank ecu, OH YOU WANT A LOOM TO PLUG INTO IT? LOL MORE CASH PLZ" ???? |
