Default computer reset

Im finially getting my extractors and 2.5" catback exhuast on my au 3 fairmont on friday. just wondering does the ecu in the car need to be reset? as the battery will be disconnected when the car is getting them on.

It doesn't need to be - it learns as it goes. The reset procedure just speeds up the learning process. So if you don't do a reset, expect the car to lack power at times, and generally carry on a bit, but after 100kms or so, it should be all good.

Dont reset the ecu.From my own car it takes about 3 days to relearn and sometimes not all values are realearnt ..

Do the reset. You should do it after every mod, especially one that has as much impact as a new exhaust/extractors. Your ECU does not always learn quickly or correctly after a modification, and may simply balls it up(Mine has done this before). The reset ensures that its paying attention to the new modifications and dynamics of the motor, and adjusts accordingly. Definately do it.

You have answered your own question. If its disconnected for 20 minutes or more its going to get a reset regardless of if you want to or not!

Casper - I think he means does he need to go through the fast-track relearn procedures (in drive, A/C on, In drive, A/C off etc).
