I had to fix one of these last week on my XF utility WOW did I curse when I lifted and heard the kaching clunk noise - dude walked past me smiled and said "you just broke your door handle huh? - I have done so many of these now that we have made a specialist tool to fix them! it started life as a screwdriver with a small square drive on it and its now been cut off and made into a "T" handle and the socket that fits the door handle nuts (A DEEP ONE) remains permanently attached to it I would hate to think how many of these I have personally fixed. Had a ZL lane that had every single handle broken on the outside. these are the epitomy of PITA.

A few that I can think of that make you think Ford (a lot of them have been previously mentioned):-

Shaker, XY GT and MACH-1 Mustang
Tri-Bar Tail Lights, most Mustangs
12 Slot Wheels, Falcon GT and Mustang
Oblong Exhaust Tips, XA - XB GT, continues on BF - FG GT
Globe BAthurst Wheels, XA - XD Falcon, copied off the Ferarri Daytona, also inspired the 18" BA GT Wheel
Power Bulge, BOSS Quad Cam V8
XR Quad Headlights, pretty much the only modern version of 4 proper Headlights (TX3 laser was the other which was inspired by the Mk II RS2000)
Three Post Rear Wing, BA - FG GT & F6
Round Tail Lights, the 60's Ford Look was on just about every Ford at the time

Thats about it for now.

Good thread Wulos,

Ok for me one of the most iconic features that speaks Tickford Falcon in the late 90's was the EL/XH quad head light front end. I feel the style had matured nicely with the ford emblem in the right place, headlights were mean but elegent and it made the falcon look low and wide. It also showed that Tickford was starting to get serious (which they did over the next few years) but they did not forget the buyers and enthusiasts which enjoy individuality and genuine sporting credentials without the big price tag.

Indeed in my opinion they did save the best to last for this. Anyone from a Holden fan, muscle car enthusiast will know its an EL/XH XR when they see the shaped quad headlight front end. Just looks sooo good. : :

I think Kia beat Ford to teardrop headlights with the 2002 Cerato.
Remember when i first saw an XR and thougth it had Kia headlights.

one of my favourites is the kink in the rear door of the late 60's early 70's falcons... (XR/XT/XW/XY) though not necessarily Australian - as the XR was obviously US based falcon...

I am a big supporter of the un-mistakeable quad light front of the XR (ED-AU)

15" Bathurst Globes (XY GTHO) is certainly an Aussie Icon when it comes to cars...

Superoo symbol - definately Australian and FORD related

Interesting that lots of things that we would see on Aussie cars, were adopted from other vehicles... be it names, design cues, etc...

GT - very broad range of vehicles use the GT name, but if you asked 100 motoring enthusiasts, my guess would be that more than 50% would associate that with FORD more than any other brand...

The BA Falcon front bumper/headlight shape were established in design well before 2002... Just for the record...

But the Kia beat it into production.
Kia was manufactured from at least May and the Falcon started production in September.
Au XR was not a teardrop style headlight.

for mine its the xe tail light treatment as well as the xe esp front end and also the dash of a blackwood falcon (xd,e,f) the ea c pillar. also the silhouette of rear profile of the el xrs and fairmont ghias with the full monty tickford kit with high mount spoiler. the XA,B,C coupes and sedan shapes are FoA all the way as well as the BA falcon boot lid kink. what about the trapezoidal grill on the B series? EL fairmont ghia front end. ALL the XR twinlight front ends. B (high)series colour screen
but the grand daddy of em all is an XY GT front end. Nothing says FoA more than a phase III front looking back at you (or the sky depending on whose driving LOL)

And rear wheel drive? Thats part of every decent ford.
It's called Blueprint.

For my 2¢, it has to be the XA-XC coupe. Achingly beautiful, yet iconically Australian. From the Falcon 500 to the Landau, they all look sensational, and I'd give both of mine to own an XB Coupe.

Other than that, the ED-->AUIII XR front end. They were in a class of their own, and it is a shame that Ford deemed it too hard to give the BA a truly bespoke XR.

100% correct, although I'd go XA or Landau

How about the AU shape. So good Mercedes even did a version of it.( Unlike Holden copying a 2000 model BMW 528i _ )

From a visual point of view, the quad round headlights, from the early GT's right up to current sports model falcons - which sort of have the quad lights, really say "Ford"

And the bonnets, starting with xw/xy/xa/xb/xc/xe esp/ef/el/ba/bf/fg in the performance falcons come to mind aswell.

And stripes/blackouts :

Been there done that........... much better afer I lubed/adjusted hinges and locks, drilled out the rivet/pivot and tapped the hole to suit a M5? high tensile bolt.

An iconic feature I'd rather forget.

most of the current models if you draw an imaginery X on on the front of the car it matches up sorta with the shape of the lower grille and headlights on falcon, mondeo, focus, and fiesta, thats what i see any way.
have a look . http://www.ford.com.au/servlet/Conte...YPage&site=FOA

Bonnet vents of an XA GT?
Bonnet vents of an EL XR6/XR8?
Rear quarter vent on the XB GT coupes?
Rear tail lights of any fairlane ever made? - definitely different and model specific (usually)
The XAGTHO compliance plate
Front grill of an XF falcon
The little grooves on the C pillar of the EA falcon
EL GT mags
F6 typhoon Rspec rear spoiler
BF Boss 302 inlet manifold badge or airbox V8 badge
Etc etc etc
Is that what you are after?????????

EDIT: Just noticed that most of this stuff has been mentioned..... Helps if you go past page 1 lol
