That ebay ad was nearly word perfect for a BA XR8 that was on there about 12mnths ago. Was listed as an army person in London all details shipping etc identical. I sent the guy an inquiry and it came back like a form letter , the next night when I checked ebay no trace of the ad. Was like it never existed?

What an idiot. I'm glad it was a prospective Holden buyer and not a Ford. If he was going to buy a Ford he wouldn't be that stupid me thinks...

I feel sorry for the guy. I picture him as a young dude who is not terribly street wise. This will haunt him for life!!

I know this scam has been around for a while. The fact that it's still around indicates there must still be plenty of people who get taken in by it. Scary really.

Would post a pic of him as it was in the newspaper but that might be going a bit to far.
He looked rather streetwise IMO.

Problem is the cops just are not interested. I got scammed for much less money off ebay. Bought an item for a few hundred $ and the guy dissapeard. I provided the SA police his name (it was his real name as well), phone number, and back account number and was assured that they take these matters seriously. 8 Weeks later I phoned up to ask what was happening only to be told it was not worth pursuing the matter considering it was only a few hundred $. Funny thing is that before I even repported the user to ebay, his account was closed because he had done the same thing in other sales. I contacted the others who had been ripped of via ebay, all reported the fraud to the police and all were told the same thing I was.

As a wise man once said....let him without guilt cast the first stone. None of us know the guy or were in his shoes at the time. Boy we are quick to judge.

To err is human...... and man plenty of times I have screwed up..... hell I once owned a commodore.

Good Call ! And while we may recognise this scam from our experiences, and in that it looks very obvious, that is not always the case. Some of the hoaxs are very elaborate.

Advice is, be careful with your money, and not so quick to judge, or you will recieve the same ridicule and lack of sympathy you posters are offering this guy!
