your video player will have an AV button, or an AV button on the remote..

you need it to be in AV mode to be able to play the x-box / ps2, whatever

so you've only got the 1 plug to the back of the TV? Aren't there connector plugs that have the one older style plug on one end and the red, white and yellow plugs on the other?

Actually here's what you could be after:

the yellow needs to be plugged into the yellow video in.

regarding the sound when you have the white plug into audio out - i recall this on my old vcr also. however it needs to be plugged into the white audio IN (also the red into the red audio IN).

from there on your vcr remote set it to AV mode (if it has more than one cycle through em until you see it.

let us know how that goes

Are you playing a game or DVD?
If you're playing a DVD through a VCR it won't show the picture
due to Macrovision copy protect crap. Try playing a game and see if that works.

yeah im only trying a game, i can hear it very clearly, but i can only very very faintly see the picture, im gonna have to find my remote for it and try it on AV. i know about those rf adapters, i used to have one for my N64. So i have to have it in audio in, even though i can fully hear the xbox, and video in, even though i can partially see the picture??? because when on video/audio In it does nothing.

Your video cable may not be working properly.. I would assume if sound is going through then video should also go through, when the vid is pointed at AV and TV is tuned to get vid

Err.....works fine for me?

Back on topic, an RF adaptor should do it, I think K Mart sells them, otherwise Dick Smith.

yeah. almost all vcr's affect the dvd picture so that you can't record straight onto vhs.. though a small minority of vcr's dont affect the picture at all, consider yourself lucky
