Funny then at the press release of the BA the whole world was told that the "Forte" designation for the base model was to be replaced with a new designation, "XT", to tie in with the already established sporting heritage associated with the XR models being named after the XR Falcon. It was said that the "XT", named after the XT Falcon, would strengthen that sporting link and give buyers of the base model a "feelgood" experience, because they could associate their car with the sporting heritage of Ford and with the up-market versions of the BA like the XR and GT. (So in line with this latter part what you say is correct.)
