How long should it be before the oil goes dark after a change? I did one about a week ago, and when I checked the dippy today the oil was dark :S

Should only need changing about every 5,000kms
Maybe you engine is just really dirty, have you tried flushing the engine with engine flush then doing an oil change? Should be no need to do that though.. It wont usually look very clear on the dipstick anyways |

Yeah I changed the filter, all the filters as a matter of fact. I dunno much about it really and if its a bad thing, but I did the change about a week ago. I didnt do it with the engine hot though, I didnt wanna get covered in hot oil (ouch) so maybe its just from the little bit of oil that was left in there?

If your engine is dirty inside the detergents in the oil will quickly strip the carbon and other crap off the motor and it is suspended in the oil. Turning it black.
Put an engine flush in the motor next oil change and that will help clean it.
