Just took this from the calder website.....Is the pricing a backflip?

Friday Night Legal Off Street Drag Racing NEW Competitor Entry Fees, effective 1 January 2007. As of the first LOSD event held Friday 12 January 2007, the following NEW competitor entry fees will apply.

Calder Park Legal Off Street Drag Racing
Every Friday Night – weather permitting

Gates Open: 5:00pm
Racing: 6:00pm through to 10:00-11:00pm (entries & weather permitting)
Burnout Entries Close: 8:30pm
Race Entries Close: 9:00pm
Gates Close: 11:00pm
Competitor Entry: $40.00(Incl. GST)
Burnout Competition Entry: $40.00 (Incl. GST)

Looks as though someone their was smart enough to read a few threads in this forum and possibly others and realised why they are losing numbers. This will bring numbers back to competition which will in turn bring spectators as well as crew, glad to see someone their is actually taking note and doing soething about it.

With prices that cheap I would think you could actually afford to bring out the funny car Craig, should I book you in for the evening of the 12th??

No good Stef, firstly Calder isn't really up to scratch for the ACE beast. Secondly it would take a few sponsors to get it there, at $10k per run. Would be nice though....

With the new rules at Calder? Yes. If your car does 110mph on the 1/4 you need 6 point harness and a hoop for the tailshaft.

Vehicles running 11.98 sec or 110 mph or quicker require a minimum quick release 4 point harness complying with the current Australian Standard.

Any vehicle running between 130mph or quicker requires a 5 point harness incorporating a crutch strap.
vehicles running 11.99 or faster require a tail shaft loop

I stand corrected, thanks. I knew I had to change the harness though. I have had 10 passes on the strip, so I'm pretty much a noob at drag racing. But all were over 110mph. I ranged from 112-118 on my timeslips.

Great to see the price at $40 for computer entry.
Calder only enforce there rules when they feel like it, we done 123mph with just a standard seat belt.

The over flow hose from your radiator needs to go into an over flow can or bottle.
No need to block it off, most cars now have over flow bottles from factory.

Falcons don't, the overflow from the header tank (not an overflow tank) goes straight onto the ground. Just get a soft drink bottle to put the overflow hose into.

Interesting that ANDRA insist on a tailshaft loop. Great if you're running a single piece tailshaft, but what of the newer cars that run a 2 piece tailshaft.

I wonder what'd happen if I fitted a tailshaft loop just behind the trans and the tailshaft let go at the rear of the centre bearing...... "ANDRA told me I only needed one"

Let me know how you go, where and pricing etc of harness. Keen to run car at Calder as soon as new clutch is in and run in.

i find it hard to understand why anyone with more than 300hp on tap, would even consider driving without a t/s loop, all my cars with worked engines have had t/s loops fitted even my old HR Holden with worked 6,after you have looked down at ground in front of car from 6 feet or so as the tailshaft digs into tar and catapults back end into the air,you dont muck around anymore,another reason i dont buy any front end or uni's from supercheap anymore.
