Default hankook tyres experiences?

hmm i just put on hankook tyres on the front and there is F all traction in the wet, I came up to this corner at 10kmph (wasn't too sharp) in the wet and the thing kept going straight .. done this corner many a time and no problems until i put hankook tyres on,

I have hankook on the front
and SP Sport 3000 on the rear (really good traction too, little too good for my liking :P)

anyone else have any problems with the hankook brand or you have no problems in the wet with them?

I've got K102's (got em cheap through work) and for the money they've been the best tyres I've had, no problems with grip at all.

I have k104's on both my T's and they are excellent value performance tyre. Having a high silica content they are a very good wet weather tyre.

Did you scrub them in before driving in the wet.

Remember new tyres aren't meant to be pushed in the wet until they have some k's under their belt to get all the smoothness and mould remover lubricanty stuff off.

That's why they always run a lap or two on each set of tyres in the V8s to get that shiny muck off. Thats why you see them with wets on a sunny day on the first day at the track.

Could be partly due to still having the Dunlops on the rear. I recently had two new fronts put on and noticed a bit too much understeer. It was against my judgement for there to be a change in handling like that - I expected the better tyres on the front would give me oversteer. When I got two of the same on the back the good old Falcon oversteer came back and I really noticed how crap the rears were (Sonar).
Your Dunlops might want to take a tighter line which doesn't mean the Hancooks are crap. Swap them over.

Just switch em round. SP's on the front, and Hankooks on the back, best of both worlds :eclipsee_

At 10kmh in the wet, NO TYRE should be like that. I would say that there was maybe some oil on the road, and coz it was wet you wouldnt see that it was there.

I put it down to that.

Cheers

Hmm, wouldn't be because of the mini-spool would it? Remember all the threads about spools, and people saying there is unpredictable handling characteristics with spools?

hmm no... this is the only time i've had a problem with the car going straight when turning.. the hankook tyres have heaps of tread, but they look too silky .. the car has gone striaight when pulling into a driveway last night ~ it's not the spool cause i've had 4 types of brands on the car since i've had the spool and this is the only ones to go straight instead of turning

Everything mate. The only time I notice the minispool is sub 40km/h cornering in the wet, or turning whilst reversing... (or when getting a little carried away ;)). I've had the front wheels not grip at less than 10km/h in the dry, on a slightly uphill off-camber driveway (was just letting the clutch out from standstill with the front wheels at full lock) and the bumper kissed a brick mailbox :(

I tend to agree with oneredED,and knowing how the car is set up would sway most folks opinion,1stly the rear tyres are 225x 16's and the spool gives a whole lot of positive drive.
2ndly the hankook's are only 205x15",Kyro's front end is so far out its nearly on another car and 3rdly the suspension is low and stiff, from my limited experience I would say there is way to much drive and not enough front end grip and alignment.

if everything else is wrong with the car then maybe you shouldn't be looking at the tyres.

haha well shit, it doesn't take a genius to work out what happens with 205's on the front and 225's on the rear.

I think this thread deserves the Nugget Of The Week Award.

I guess its a case of when someone dosent know. they come to the forum for an answer or help, and whats even more helpful is the full picture,i assume from the last 2 posts you also agree that the tyres arent the problem
