Well today my lovely bride hit the Trifecta
She has now successfully Bent every car we have co-owned Hyundai Getz - Reversed into our brick letterbox Holden Rodeo - T-Boned a Skyline that pulled out in front of her and now My EF Fairmont Ghia... someone who was turning left decided they would turn right instead ![]() Glad to say she is fine... if not a little shaken up (and the little bun that is about to pop out in two or so months is also well) looks like this project car may become a parts car for something else though ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() off to the panel beater tomorrow to see if it will buff out :P |

I'm not going to prattle on for too long in this thread...
but the IRONY that envelopes this accident is doing my head in LOL the Ghia SHOULD have been off the road by now... but the wagon project got held up the Ghia recently had its insurance reduced from comprehensive... to third party only due to budget restrictions caused by cut backs (shift change) at work the person that hit the Ghia.... was uninsured (she has admitted liability, so if you can tell me how to deal with getting compensation for repairs... please do! ![]() as for the wifes next car.... I think I'll buy one of these as soon as i can that way any close calls will just scoot underneath ![]() |

She hasn't actually damaged three cars, only one. The last two were someone else's fault. But her bad luck with accidents has to change as its that so called magical number!! Glad to hear both her and bubs are ok though, bit scary that happening whilst so heavily pregnant. Good luck with it all ![]()

Do you have full comp? If so, go to your insurance company. They comission the repairs and chase her for the money.

If the other party has admitted liability, just pass the details on to your insurance company. That's what they are there for. Does third party insurance cover your car in the event that someone else is at fault?

I was with aami a few years ago and they said with 3rd party insurance in the event of an uninsured driver hitting you ,you are elligible for up to 3000 bucks but you need to get the other person to admit guilt. good luck
on another note 3rd party personal injury insurance is compulsory to get registered,I think its about time 3rd party property damage insurance (as a minimum )was made compulsery as well (Ill get off the soapbox now) steve

take it in your stride . the worst thing i ever said to my wife was why is it always you that has car misfortune ? as shed had lots of accidents and or car scratches, dings in car parks etc . i never had anything go wrong in 20 years . then i had 2 major car accidents in 1 week . and reversed into another car in a carpark 5 months later . if she feels down get her to read my post . glad she's ok . and you too . |

Basically if the insurance company wont act on your behalf then u have pretty much gotta foot the bill urself as u will have to sue the offending driver which will cost you money and a long time and in the end if the other party is broke then they may claim bankruptcy and u will not get a dime, but will have spent alot! The worst thing that can happen on the road (besides injury/fatality) is being hit by an uninsured driver cos that means your both outta pocket! Ive had mates that have been hit by yobbo's with no money and no insurance and have had to wreck the car as they know they will not be getting any money! Thats why 3rd party is and should be cumpolsury so if u hit someone they can be reimbursed, not ripped off!!

You'll have to PM me the details of the SHERMAN though ! ![]() So I did the run of the local Panel beaters today Still have some Quotes to come in but verbally they range from $1500 - $2500 with the average being at $2k + An interesting note to my travels... One panel shop offered a service where All I have to do is supply the offending uninsured drivers details and the Panel beater takes our car... fixes it... and passes on the uninsured drivers details to a debt collection agency ! Obviously though... his quote came in at $2500 ![]() As I've previously mentioned... the Fairmont was about to come off the road for a while anyway and the wagon was due to be registered soonish. Maybe I can wrangle this incident into some hard cash to get the wagon operational sooner. |
