Ford’s advanced connectivity technology, SYNC2, with Emergency Assistance that can dial “000” for you in the event of an accident standard across the range†

MELBOURNE, 18 Nov., 2014 – Ford has confirmed the six model line-up for its 2015 Mondeo range offering customers standard features not available on Toyota Camry, including new technologies and safety features.
When the all-new Mondeo goes on sale next year, customers will be able to choose from the dynamic Ambiente, stylish Trend and range-topping Titanium models in both hatch and wagon variants.
The all-new Mondeo range also includes a diesel that is more fuel efficient than Camry Hybrid and the Australian introduction of Ford’s innovative, world-first inflatable rear seatbelts.

The six-model line-up features five-door and wagon variants with one of Ford’s first launches of its SYNC2 connectivity system with voice control and Emergency Assistance†, as well as Ford’s innovative inflatable rear seatbelts standard across the range.
Customers will also have a choice of new fuel-efficient EcoBoost petrol and turbo-diesel engines. Mated to Ford’s latest-generation PowerShift six-speed transmission that is stronger, more efficient and quieter in operation, the new Mondeo Hatch Duratorq diesel is set to offer better economy than Camry Hybridwith no compromise on performance.

EcoBoost technology continues as a cornerstone of Ford’s product onslaught in 2015 starting with Mondeo, giving customers the performance they want with the fuel economy they desire. EcoBoost is core to Ford’s commitment to improve fuel efficiency across its range.
The all-new Ford Mondeo also features segment-first enhanced MyKey safety technology to enable Mondeo owners to program a key – usually for younger drivers. MyKey is already available on the Fiesta and Fiesta ST.
Research commissioned by Ford with the support of The National Roads and Motorists' Association (NRMA) reveals 61 per cent of parents have concerns about their children not paying attention to the road or being distracted by others. These concerns are well justified, according to the research, with almost 40 per cent of young people admitting to being distracted while driving.
MyKey can inhibit incoming phone calls to help reduce driver distraction as well as restricting the top speed; preventing deactivation of driver assistance and safety features; reducing the maximum volume of the audio system, and disabling the system altogether if driver and passengers are not using seat belts, providing peace of mind for parents.

Mondeo’s optional features list includes an array of driver assistance features not found on other mid-size cars such as Toyota Camry. Optional features that can be found on Mondeo include:

Lane Keeping Aid + Assist can alert the driver if they drift out of their lane by vibrating the steering wheel and will direct them back into their lane by automatically applying steering torque unless, of course, their indicator is on.

Adaptive Cruise Control can sense if traffic is slowing and automatically slows to maintain a pre-determined distance from the car in front. When the traffic clears, it goes back to the driver’s pre-set speed.

Forward Collision Warning sounds an audible alert when it senses a reduction in traffic speed ahead and, if the possibility of a collision is detected, audible and visual warnings are activated to alert the driver.

Enhanced Active Park Assist takes the stress out of parking by not only finding a spot that’s just the right fit, but also by steering into parallel and perpendicular parking spaces itself.

Active City Stop can help avoid or mitigate rear end collisions at speeds up to 30 km/h.

All Mondeo models feature a comprehensive list of standard safety, convenience and comfort features which include:

MyKey, which allows parents to set limits and guidelines for young drivers, making the roads a safer place for all motorists.

Emergency Assistance, which activates in the event of an accident where an air-bag is deployed or the emergency fuel pump shut off is triggered and will attempt to connect with emergency operators and inform them of the accident and provide the GPS location coordinates of the vehicle when paired with a mobile phone†.

SYNC2 with voice control tuned for the Australian accent allows for easier access to audio, navigation, climate control and connected devices including smart phones to allow the driver to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

8-inch Hi-Resolution Colour Touch Screen provides an easy point of entry to manage the vehicle’s climate, phone, navigation and infotainment controls. Split into four coloured quadrants, the 8” screen makes it easy for drivers to quickly and intuitively access the system they wish to adjust through large, easy to access buttons on SYNC2.

Inflatable Rear Seatbelts – a Ford Australia first – are designed to operate like conventional seat belts, which in an event of a crash deploy over an occupant’s torso and shoulder in 40 milliseconds.

Electronic Park Brake makes it effortless to apply the park brake through the simple touch of a button.

Hill Launch Assist activates when you take your foot off the brake to put it on the accelerator, the system holds the brake pressure for up to three seconds, giving you time to press the accelerator and pull away without rolling back.

Paddle Shifters offer a sporty and intuitive alternative to change gears on Mondeo’s dual-clutch PowerShift transmission

Driver Impairment Monitor, which observes driver behaviour and fatigue. Using a forward facing camera to monitor the vehicle’s position in the lane and calculate a vigilance level for the driver, an audible chime will sound to alert the driver to stop and take a rest.

Design
Visually, the all-new Mondeo delivers a contemporary design with the functionality and space expected by customers in the medium car segment.
Produced at Ford’s state-of-the-art plant in Valencia, Spain, the all-new Mondeo features a sports coupé profile with low roof-line and incorporates a retractable panoramic glass roof for the Titanium wagon and a fixed panoramic roof for the Titanium hatch.
The lean side-profile is sculpted to convey “visual lightness,” while the sophisticated and technical front end design features Ford’s more prominent trapezoidal grille, a power-dome bonnet and adaptive, slim-line, laser-cut headlamp design.
The large upper grille is positioned higher on the front to make the car look more confident with a chrome surround and five chrome bars. Key features include:

Smaller lower grille is finished in gloss black on high series with a ‘chrome smile’ that runs along the lower edge

New style Ford badge is countersunk into the nose of the car above the upper grille

The bonnet is highly sculpted with a powerful looking power dome

Very slim headlamps are elongated into the wings to create a very modern look, as if it was ‘laser cut’ into the vehicle

The roof line is lower than the current Mondeo, adding to the low athletic style

Aerodynamically optimised side mirrors are positioned to maximise visibility

Two-piece wrap-around tail lamps feature LED brake lights and turn indicators

Inside, Mondeo drivers are greeted by a digital analogue instrument cluster, while a sleek, wrap-around centre console design delivers a sporty, cockpit-like feel.

Superior refinement, design and quality
Road noise reductions of around 3 decibels in the rear and 2 decibels in the front have been achieved with integral link rear suspension and additional sound deadening material, while wind noise is reduced by 8 per cent to levels previously only experienced in the premium segment.
Mondeo delivers best-ever quality and craftsmanship for both the refined, elegant, sporty and highly expressive exterior, and the interior that features optimised ergonomics and comfort, with premium finishes and equipment.
Ford’s new rear inflatable seat belts, combining attributes of traditional seat belts and air-bags, are standard across the entire Mondeo hatch and wagon range.
The advanced rear restraint system is designed to help reduce head, neck and chest injuries for rear seat passengers, often children and older passengers who can be more vulnerable to such injuries.

Ford driving dynamics
The all-new Mondeo is the first model for Australia to be built on Ford’s new global CD-segment platform, debuting Ford’s new integral link rear suspension configuration for improved refinement and more dynamic performance.
The all-new platform and body structure is enhanced with Electric Power Assisted Steering for the first time on Mondeo, and an optimised anti-lock braking system also helps reduce stopping distances by more than 1 metre from 100 km/h.
The Mondeo’s body structure is 10 per cent stiffer than the previous-generation Mondeo while handling-enhancing technology includes Torque Vectoring Control.
Stronger body with advanced materials
The all-new Ford Mondeo uses sophisticated materials and production techniques to deliver greater strength and improved safety with reduced weight and enhanced sustainability.
An industry-first application of hydro-formed high strength steel is used to produce the A-pillars, B-pillars, and roof rails. A new magnesium inner tailgate structure for the five-door model delivers a weight-saving of about 40 per cent compared to a traditional steel equivalent.
Ford improved the strength of relevant areas of the car by 40 per cent and verified the cars crash performance with thousands of computer simulations and more than 180 real-world crash tests.
The Mondeo body structure features 61 per cent high-strength steel.

Exterior Colours
Mondeo customers will have a choice of eight vibrant colours:

Magnetic*

Ruby Red*

Blazer Blue

White Platinum Tri-Coat*

Frozen White

Deep Impact Blue*

Moondust Silver*

Panther Black*

The all-new Mondeo goes on sale in Australia early next year. Pricing and engine specifications will be announced closer to launch.

*Metallic colours
In the event of a crash that deploys an air-bag or activates the fuel pump shut-off, Emergency Assistance can use your mobile phone (as long as it is paired and within range) to dial emergency services
Based on the combined cycle according to ADR81/02 published on www.toyota.com.au
