My back step thermometer says almost 35° at 9:30 (AEDT). Lot of residual heat but I think the forecast was a bit low as well.
People who say they love the heat, generally don’t work outdoors on a shovel much. :p The workshop overflow yard is in full sun until late afternoon, too. |

"Oh, I love the heat." "Yes, but you spent 80% of the day sitting inside with the air conditioning on and without the sun burning your skin. And if the power went out and you had no air conditioning, you'd be complaining very loudly." Same happens with the cold of winter. "Oh, I can't stand the cold, give me summer any day." "What? How would you know its cold when you sat inside with the heater on for most of your day?" I once had a female family staff member (the boss's wife) who had spent 95% of the day inside the shop with the heater one come out late in the day after I and another colleague had been outside all day working our ****.s off in the bitter cold. She said, oooh, its soooo cold out here. I may have told her she should try working harder. I don't think she appreciated that, but I meant every word of it.

Horrible weather. Last week's high 30s low 40s is not my idea of pleasant. Can't do anything meaningful outdoors without being drenched, flies in your face, dog has to stay home, car runs like a pig.....can't think of anything more depressing.
June July can't come quick enough. :P

Hey we're all different. Mate I've been around most of Oz despite being a sydneyite but not the desert. Worked in Cairns wet season for 5yrs - then the summers. Sydney used to work with tree loppers, cutting down the huge gums in pieces you could just carry, then loading the trucks no machines them days to dump at the tips. Done landscaping - shovel tons of blue metal/sand cart to the back of huge backyards from the street up hills steps typical difficult get to. Then copious amounts of pavers/tiles nothing new for you I know. Did stump grinding for some years helping a mate out - that in the heat is very uncomfortable. Some would do worse - factories etcetc. I get to Saudi/ME 50+ now that is damn hot just bloody walking in it, watch the migrant workers working on roads omg. I can cope with the heat as uncomfortale it is, sweating, dripping wet uncomfortable tshirt, sweat stinging in the eyes but don't like the cold. Luv the outdoors, freezing cold outside isn't nice to me. Hence staying near the coast - it has its benefits, move from NE Vic ![]() ![]()

Quite a nice 26 here atm. Cloudless sky.
Which means after our day of rain here yesterday, the grass will be up around my balls by tomorrow

![]() Around Easter, just something about the smell in the air, the cooler nights, pleasant warm days. Makes me smile for some reason, perhaps it the relief of not being so busted up at the end of the day. People seem more pleasant too.

Bit of a change in weather from a few days ago; 30km/h winds from the south east, which typically has brought drizzle through to light rain all day ("rain from the east, three days at least"). Almost 7mm today so far.
But, it hasn't even cracked 19 deg all day. Too cold for me! I've got a jumper on in summer! I know there's those who prefer the cooler weather, but I do much prefer a day in the 30s than this crap. The garden and lawn is loving the precipitation, tho, so there is a good side to it.

30mm here since 9am yesterday. A decent drop. Another 20 to 30mm expected over the next couple of days. I don't mind the rain, but it's cold!

Have a large umbrella shaped gum in the horse run, approx 8x9mt that i also planted. Valuable shade for the Ponies, soaked that last night & again this morning for the 1st time, along with a couple of Golden Sapote's which look pretty bad as well, even with regular soaks. Even quite a few of the many Pepper trees bordering the whole property look like ****! |

Cool change here today and for the rest of the week, high 20's after a few weeks of late 30's early 40's. Humidity is up though, 80% this morning. The Escort hated it when I went up the coast this morning, felt like it had some fat jets, sluggish and lacking its normal bark.
Still enjoyed the run and looking forward to the cooler weather this week.

When we lived in Everton (near Beechworth) almost every timber house in town had major problems with the bloody things flying across from those trees and eating the places from inside out. Must admit I like them for the pink pepper corns off them usually around this time of years.

Fair enough too, but thats another reason i like them. Being rural that crap & their shade, really stifle weeds well. Both neighbours are useless at weed control, let alone growing any bordering block out foliage that is a supposed requirement here.

yep understand from a acerage and larger property outlook.
Trees are a need period no matter what they are and those that survive the harsh changes in climate...... Here in Syd burbs I live backing on a National Park as much as I luv it I hate it as well hahaha The frigging cleaning none stop of leaves/branch's/dead wood after high winds and worse after the cockys have raided the wattle tree seeds and some fruit trees we have. Worse is the large gums when they start loosing their skin and damn those turpentines. Got too many of them got to chop a few more down. I know we need trees but I have enough of the b astards !
