Yeah my Nonno drove a Fairmont Ghia for a bit, then bought a "Yuk" Statesman. Nonna didn't drive, didn't speak english but made the BEST tomato paste and sauce!
BTW...It has been decided by popular public opinion and the fact he has a GROUSE car, auslandau is an honorary wog!! Don Dave! We Italians would claim Tiger Woods too if we could!!!

Dio benedica tutti famiglias - God Bless Our Families
What would we all do with out them!! I used to go to the Italian club in Fremantle when I was really little. Listening to Nonno and his mates talk about the old days was great. I do know what you are talking about when it comes to Crayfishing. Half of Fremantle's crayfishing industry was/is run by the Italian community.

Hey Nunz...or is that Nunzio?? We used to all get together for about 4 weekends in a row at Nonna's house. The men folk would go off and make wine or Grapa and us woman folk would be in this shed kind of thing making all the pasta sauce.
Oh the good old days!!

Hey Guys,
good stuff we still make the tomato sauce and our own salami etc. What is funny is all my mates are interested in keeping these traditions alive as we all appreciate the taste and freshness of the food. Rob (roberto) |

A.S Roma drew Man u in the quarter finals of the champions league. Will be tough for them, but praying that they make it. |

Yes it is Nunzio. Like i say to people its a real good Aussie name. You know when you look back they were good days with everyone there although by the end of the day you'd had enough. You're not wrong about the taste and freshness and you knew what its actually made from.

Yep, the tomato suace making (although that is slowly being stopped as you can't have an open fire in Brisbane Vity Council) sausage making, the odd grape crushing and my dad still makes fresh ricotta.
And did anyone copy crap at school when you had bibi (roasted capsicum), pecorino cheese, roatsed eggplant and salami at school? Man, I copped heaps as a kid. Now, it's all the rage !!! This thread is cool.... Sam (Salvatore, aka Turido) |

We don't use open fires anymore. We use the gas burners underneath the drums.
There wouldn't be many that didn't cop it. I even love going to those old style deli's but I don't seem to see them that much in Sydney anymore |

U go nuts when u go to those deli's
All the salami, prosciutto, sopresatto, cheeses and marinated olives. Not to mention all the stuff under oil in jars - porcini mushrooms, eggplant artichoke hearts. I luv the aperitivi drinks, in the little bottles. Red ones, Chinotto. |
