I grew up on a quarter acre block in Como.
The verges were big enough to park cars facing in, and between my brothers and I we always had a car or 2 sitting there. Plus, I can’t remember the backyard without at least one car in it. We had a big garage, but that was just for stuff, and a couple of sheds for more stuff, and a long driveway that could accommodate 4~5 cars. Boats, Caravans, trailers, and more cars were parked down the other side of the house. Now days, there is no room for anything. I have a big double garage, but that’s it. We can park 2 more on the drive, but they hang out over the footpath, and there is no verge, just the footpath. I have no side access, and nowhere to put a shed. I have seriously looked at industrial property, but they want more for the smallest unit than you’d pay for some houses. Just wondering what solutions others have come up with in their need for a shed or room to work on a project car, or park their boat…. |
