I claimed nothing about toxic masculinity in this thread relating to
OP's scenario. Go back and read it again.
But yes, I brought up the connections to possessiveness and possible eventual domestic abuse because it is a thing and we all need more awareness of it. It's not a comfortable topic but the only way to normalise it for discussion is to include it in conversation.
