Number of USA bank failures are at a very low level. 50% of the total assets by $ for 2023 was Silicon Valley Bank, which isn't a retail bank anyway and has been teetering for a while and expected to fail.

In any case, the businesses of all 5 banks that failed in 2023 were quickly and efficiently transferred to new financial institutions by the FDIC.
