Remember - Christmas without Christ is meaningless. |
Re: Merry Christmas AFF!
I'm very much offended by your presumption that everyone on AFF celebrates Christmas. Not everyone celebrates Christmas, and I think you owe an apology to those on AFF that don't.
Mod's can you please change the title to 'Happy Holidays AFF' please? |

Re: Merry Christmas AFF!
FWIW my wife has quite a few Muslim clients, male and female, in her hair salon. Some are so strict that blinds must be drawn and no males allowed in when the women get their done, which can be a pain.
But, most still bring her pressies at Christmas and they all say Merry Christmas when they leave. (I don't think they worry too much about the Christian thing, they just like the present giving part :lol) |

I don't follow any particular religion, nor do I celebrate Christmas either - at the end of the day, I don't feel the need to explain myself to anyone. By the same context, anyone that wishes to celebrate Christmas, and/or follows a particular religion should do so - it's not my place nor my right to deny them that. |
Re: Merry Christmas AFF!
Okay, let's clear the air then. My post in post #2 was tongue in cheek. Firmly. :wink2
It was in response to the news in the last week of the Diversity Council Australia calling for the drop the word ‘Christmas’ to describe end of the year celebrations. Which I didn't take to kindly. https://nationalfile.com/government-...to-be-dropped/ https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-mum-guys.html My response to the Diversity Council of Australia's call for the word Christmas to be banned from end of year celebrations? F**K YOU!! :cdown Simple. My own story? I was not born in Australia. My parents do not follow Christianity. We migrated to Australia when I was a child. I don't really follow any particular religion. My now home country, Australia, is a Christian country. Me, and my family have accepted this fact. Australia is a "diverse" country after all. I have travelled to majority Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, etc. etc. countries all around the world. When in these countries, me, the wife and my kids follow their rules/religious traditions, etc when we are required to. We have no issues, and accept it for what it is. The world is a "diverse" place after all. Being "diverse" is to have respect for different races and appreciate the diversity of other cultures. To me, that also means that if you choose to live in another country as your new home, then respect, appreciate and accept it for what it is. Australia is a majority Christian country, and Christmas IS celebrated by the majority. It's part of accepting to be "diverse" after all! What the Diverse Council of Australia is proposing, to me anyway, is very much contradictory. Hope everyone is having a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!! :santa |
