Help requested - anyone flying from Melb to Perth in Nov?
Hi everyone,
I have to send a dog from Melbourne to Perth in November 07 and the freight companies charge over $500 to do this. I am told that it is considerably less if she will be classed as excess baggage with a passenger on the flight. So, I was wondering if anyone here might be flying from Melbourne to Perth in November and will be willing to accept a monetary donation to take her as excess baggage for me? I will meet you at the airport with her and she will be picked up by someone on arrival. Hope someone might be able to help! Thanks, Andrew. |
im leaving from melbourne to perth but on the 3rd of december? is that too late?

Id try to sell it on ebay.
Like the rights for you to pay them to take your dog as luggage. or ask on the ebay forums they might have ideas. |
It turns out that pets aren't allowed as regular baggage freight into Perth Airport so I'm stuck with having to treat her as a $500+ pack of freight.
Thanks for the responses guys. |
i heard there was a company that does sea freight perth to melbourne vice versa dont know about dogs.

Have you considered asking any truckies that drive out that way? Many years ago we got a dog from Townsville to Sydney that way.

It is cheaper to fly a pet with a person. Both my brothers have had dogs fly with someone to get them from Perth to various destinations and everytime it was less than half the price of having them fly alone, I would keep looking into it.

I flew perth to melb on thursday night getting in at midnight and left my car keys in someones bag in perth. My car was at melb air port, and my spares were at my place 2 hours away. Friends in perth got my keys on the next flight as freight and cost $180 to send 1 single BA key and remote! Had my keys by 4am and on my way home. While i was waiting in the freight company office i saw about half a dozen dogs go out. Cost one couple almost $1k to send a dog and cat to darwin!
$500 for a dog is bad, but i'm still bewildered at $180 for car keys!!! |
