never mind...i found a winamp link on the scanners site, using that instead of WMP.

Hi everyone, Sorry I havent posted in a while - I have been pretty busy. I have some bad news regarding these streams. The person who promised me live feeds from these areas has turned out to be lying.

So all I have got at the moment is the sydney stream as all people that have been promising me streams have been unreliable. I am more concentrating on content now anyway. But the sydney stream is here to stay:

I found this forum while searching for Live Police Streams in Queensland... There appears to be none available... So... Long story short, I've decided to host my own..

My Stream is hosted on the Gold Coast Queensland.. The Scanner scans the Police Allocation of 467.850 - 469.425MHZ.... The stream also recieves Northern NSW (Ballina, Lismore etc...) as well as the Gold Coast (As far North as Beenleigh)

As the Server is hosted on my own private PC (as well as the webserver) There will be occasions that the server will be knocked offline.. But it WILL ALWAYS BE BACK!

The Audio Quality isn't 100%, But its definatly listenable (is that even a word??).. You also don't need any media players, winamps etc.. to listen to the stream (Its all intergrated into the browser).. However, I have included a winamp link for those who wish to use it..

P.S I may decide to put a paypal "donations" link on the webpage... I'm not asking anyone to donate, But as you all know, Bandwidth isn't free... And streaming over the internet uses a LOT of bandwidth (another reason why the encoder is kept at a low level)... If you do wish to donate however It will be greatly appriciated, And it will insure the server is kept online more times than not...

No Problem mate, Happy to help out...

The stream isn't 100% what it could be in quality wise, But its not uncomfortable to listen to.. I've kept the bitrate down low enough not to chew too much bandwidth & to make it available to dialup users (and those who have their internet capped after certain limits) Yet high enough to make it understandable...

The Police Band here is always quite active, so there shouldn't be too many "boring times"...

Ah ok, Gotya... You hear some pretty funny stuff on the scanners at times.. Im working on getting that "buzz" out of the audio on the stream & making it all a bit cleaner, I just need a longer cord from the soundcard to the scanner to get the scanner a little further away from the PC, so for now, Im sorry about that guys... The stream will be kept online & will be turned off for a few minutes while I fix it up (Probably tomorrow (Sunday))... But hey, At least there's a Gold Coast Stream up & running now.... And for those people that question the legalities of it all... Streaming the Police is perfectly legal.. With the same rules & regulations of scanners themselves... You're not allowed to "act" on anything you hear (like scanner chasing).. According to the ACMA website, You're allowed to stream pretty much anything (within reason) providing there are no 'inputs' to be able to broadcast on the frequencies being streamed... But to broadcast on the cops channels is just asking for trouble.

I personally don't like the windows media streams... The codec's make them sound way too tinny, I much prefer the Shoutcast servers.. But its alright none the less..

Two dumb crooks were trying to break into a house through the roof, and fell off.
Plenty of egg throwing and rocks being thrown at buses.
