Re: What made you feel good today?
It's 12 months since my best mate left us so today we went down to Brissy to spend the day with his widow and daughters.
We spent the whole day telling stories about him and our antics when we were younger. I don't think any of us has laughed so much in the last year. |

Re: What made you feel good today?
partners car is back from the detailer looking better than new.
my car should be done next weekend and I'm expecting a massive improvement from how it looks now. Also finally getting my gardens sorted after 5 or 6 years in the house - it would have been done today but bunnings ran out of plants and I ran out of funding lol |

Saw a few people in faded HRT jackets at the Grand Prix. Not the 888 HRT but the real Walkinshaw HRT. "Holden, we're still here". Bwahahahaha.

Re: What made you feel good today?
I finally got around to cleaning the house. It has never been particularly bad but it always feels better after putting the effort in :)
I'm hoping to get around to cleaning my car this long weekend as that is well over a year since I last cleaned it :lol |

Reading about Bud Light sales falling. Get woke, go broke. And this is not lip service. For three decades I shaved using Gillette products. For the last four years I have been shaving using a Schick razor.

Resisting the Metallica leaks, resisting FOMO.
New album drops tomorrow with a preview listening party tonight in cinemas. Seats are central, I am ready. |
Re: What made you feel good today?
I did actually get around to cleaning my car last Monday so it's looking pretty good :)

Re: What made you feel good today?
…One of my car batteries failed on the tester today, DIN55H now at only 64% of nominal 530 CCA. Starts and runs the car fine, but you wouldn’t rely on it after a couple of days not using.
I’m feeling good because it’s lasted almost exactly six years. It’s some obscure Turkish brand that I got from an iffy place which since closed down. At the time of purchase I thought the sellers were having a lend of me on price ($270 IIRC) but it’s proven decent value over time. |

The very, very old nylon bushes on my T bar in the XC disintegrated last week.
Got some new ones from Rare Spares, fit perfectly, no more sloppy shifter. I hate a sloppy shifter, got to be firm and move smoothly on the box. |

Re: What made you feel good today?
Guy moved in around the corner from me about 12 months ago. By absolute chance, we worked out that he worked at Ford with my cousin.
He moved to town working for an international company that was working on converting rubbish trucks to run on hydrogen. These trucks would be used in a project that would convert waste to hydrogen. He was told last week that funding for the project had been exhausted and that his services would no longer be required. The same day, he was told by the real estate agent that the house he is renting will be going on the market for sale. A member in here is a supervisor at a local veggie farm. Contacted to see if he needed anyone. Guy around the corner grew up on a farm and has experience driving tractors, so thought it might be a win:win. Guy around the corner went out there today and now has three days per week of work, which will at least cover his rent. Whilst he didn't exactly thank me, it feels good knowing that I've helped him out a little. |
Re: What made you feel good today?
Well...you probably deserve a Thank you!

And whilst he didn't actually say thanks, it would have been easy to do. But I didn't need the 'thanks' for me to feel good about doing a good deed. At the end of the day, all I did was send a text. The guy who gave him the job was the one who is doing most of the effort. |

Finished mowing my front and back lawns this evening, finally got them in sync after almost four months. I’m far from a lawn obsessive, but enjoy the spurring on from efforts of others here; Rallye Sport, danzvtil, AU-Hog, FTE217, .:4:. and of course Mr DFB all spring to mind. It’s a genuine highlight to learn and have fun at the same time.

A great day at the Wangaratta truck, car, bike and fly in.
Watching the Mustang perform and hearing the radial engines were brilliant. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...5f500e0288.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...520e9102cf.jpg |

Nice. I'll never get to Goodwood, but this is doable one day.

Re: What made you feel good today?
Do you know which mustang it was, RW?
An ex-Raaf pilot my dad flew back seat with when going away with the Roulettes (back in the days when they flew Macchis) owns a Mustang (and a Sabre and a C47). There's nothing like the sound of a wound up Merlin, IMHO! |

Re: What made you feel good today?
Found out today that the young fellow at work who I have mentored for the last 4 years, has landed a great job, not only earning lots more money than he was getting, but also with many more avenues to work his way up the ladder than we could offer him at my work. For him to go further where I work would need one of 2 people to either die, or retire. As both of them are under 50, and quite fit, he’d be waiting a long time.
He was upfront with me when we came back to work in January, about wanting to find a better job with more opportunities, and I told him to go for it. Over the past few months I’ve helped him with his resume, and interview practice. Not that he needed much - he’s an intelligent guy. I knew the time was close when I did a phone reference for him last week. A few days later he asked me to read the employment contract they offered him. We got a few things changed to make it fairer for him, and both parties were happy. Today he came to me and asked for help in writing his first ever resignation letter. It was bittersweet. Great for him as a person, but he’ll leave big shoes to fill. The joy on his face was amazing. It was then that I reflected on the people in my past, who mentored me when I was his age, and encouraged me to get to where I am today. I’m still friends with them today - those who are still alive - and most have retired now. I hope we’re still in touch when I get to retirement age. It felt damn good to be a key part of his growth over the last few years, and point him on the pathway to new challenges. |
