Hi all,
I just picked a new boat the other day and whilst I was giving it one final checkover before handing over my hard earned for it I noticed that the tyres were on the wrong way (directional tyres rotating backwards). No probs I thought, I'll just swap them over when I get it home. I also noticed on the way home that the tyres on one side of the trailer sit out a little bit from the guards. The compliance plate lists Ford hubs and wheels yet it has VX Clubsport 18's on it. My first thought was the hubs had been changed to fit the different wheels but after swapping the wheels around tonight I find that there is a spacer bolted to the Ford hubs with new studs in the Holden pattern in the spacer to allow the Holden rims to bolt up. My question is; Are these bolt on spacers illegal on a tandem trailer? The spacers cannot be removed unless the nuts on the original hubs are undone first, they don't just sit between the hub and the wheel. Cheers, Matty

Matty - refer to the tyre & wheel technical section of the forums, on a car these are not legal. Personally I would be swapping the Clubsport rims for a set of Ford rims. Depending on the age of the trailer it might have been built for pre-AU offset rims, so without the spacer an AU-FG rim might foul on the inner guard or chassis rail.
