Default Rattle

Hey guys,

Lately I've been hearing a rattle upon starting up the car and I'm pretty sure its coming from where the cat is. Now it happens when idling with like 1-2 second breaks, not when driving though, well at least not that I know of.

When I took it down to the exhaust guys, by having a rough look, he said its probably the cat. Has anybody experienced this or something similar?

I dont feel any loss performance wise but it is just a little annoying.

Any ideas? I have a AU3 XR6 with around 130 xxx on the clock.

If an exhaust guy says it's probably the cat, then it's probably the cat. Why didn't you get him to have a better look and change it if it was stuffed?

chuck a screwdriver on the cat and listen to the cat when the car is running by putting your ear to the handle.... or if you have a mechanics stethoscope, thats a better option... youll hear it rattling for sure.

id be near certain its your cat.. pretty common. get a full metal cat when its changed over
