Default RONE Art - Flinders St (Railway) Station

Went to the RONE Art display on the 3rd floor of the Melbourne Flinders St Railway Station today - it was amazing. The 3rd floor had been abandoned for years, everything in there was bought in for the display, you would swear that people just walked out and left it

Worth a visit and not that expensive

Anyone else been?

Chairman's Award: Chairman's Award - Issue reason: Your outstanding contributions to this community have not gone unnoticed. IN my view you are a worthy recipient of the (rarely used) Chairman's Award.

Was the “sewing room” part of that exhibition? I found it really poignant as photographed on the website. Garment sewing was nearly a rite of passage for so many migrant women, and quite a few men as well.

Yep, the sewing room had my wife enthralled (non-migrant), she worked in the rag trade in the mid to late '70's in East St. Kilda, there was so much stuff in there she recognised. It was the first room we saw and we thought it had been used years ago and then abandoned, only to learn further on in the exhibition that EVERYTHING had been bought in just for the display, dust and cobwebs included

Was listening to Darren James on 3AW last Sunday morning raving about this… 1950s newspapers coving windows, old typewriters looking like workers just up and left 40yrs ago etc..
Apparently ends 23rd April?… I must try and get to it..
Do you need to book online or??

It's great, you will love it. There were people at the door with no tickets, they just took their money (EFTPOS) and let them in

yep paper spread everywhere. The mail room, sewing room and typing pool were all fantastic. The Library was awesome, over 8000 books bought in and everything else in there. It is so hard to believe that EVERYTHING was bought in, dust and cobwebs included

Putting all that aside it was just great to be in the top of Flinders Street Station, a once in a lifetime experience and to actually stand in the Ballroom was just awesome (GovCo put a new roof on it a while ago as it collapsed with all the bird **** deteriorating it)

I remember the old ballroom being home to the Pidgeon's when I once worked for the public transport corporation, nice to know it has been put to good use since the years of neglect.

Was reading about this Rone bloke…
Started out as a street artist.. Graffiti?
Seems to have an unbelievable mind to think up the detail in something like this?
