Default hybrid xr/normal front bar ideaaaa

so ive had this idea in my head for agesss, to get an xr front bar from somewhere, s2/3 only please, hack it up and get someone who's a plastic welder to put it all back together with my standard front bar to fit the headlights.

now i just put together a quick photoshop job and came up with this...

i think it looks ok, sort of hahaha would look alright with the rest of the kit i suppose. kind of has a t1/2 feel to it.

so, if anybody has an xr bar that is rooted around the headlights, or above the line thing anyway, then sling it my way.

Damn it HLC, be quiet.
This is an idea i was going to run on my car, except that i was going to keep the xr grill as well, and i was going to cast the bar in fiber glass so as not to ruin it.
I've just got to the money and then the bar

Cheers

I see where your comin from HLC. I like the normal AU lights better then the XR ones(please dont burn me its just my opinion). That would look great if you could find someone to do it for you.

I was thinking of grafting a ts50 grille onto a xr50 bar. Not sure how it would look though.

Hence why i'm going to cast it in fiber glass. I'm not cutting up $500 worth of bar.

Here's a quick (re dodey) chop of what i'm going to do. Cheers to whoosha for me using the front of his car

Bugger, just realised i left the indicators in there. They'd be gone in the real bar.

Cheers

PS. the smaller it is the better my chop looks

Not much of a fan, a T1/2 bar would look better but each to their own

That's rubbish. I had some joker reverse into my XR6 bar, and the insurance company would not replace it - they sent it off to be plastic welded, and it came back looking better than new.

i funnily enough had recently been thinking of a similar bar (for a project i have in mind anyway)

plastic welding is all well and good for repairs etc but i would be hesitant to rely on it joining all the way around a bar, thats a big join to hold

Put the pursuit lip on, then add the rest of the TS50 kit.

The XR front bar i was quoted 1600 from ford so its gota be cheaper than thet to do a mould if you know someone to do it. Im looking at getting a AU fairmont at the moment so if you make one of these bars i might be intrested in one!

i did it with some 1mm alumium sheet glued to the inside of the bar to hold it all in shape, then just fibreglassed over the outside to get a flush and neat finish.. I had the lights and got the bar for $120 off AFF so i wasnt going to break me if it didnt work.. I got the idea from JC and his wagon

Come to think of it I still have a spare AU bar somewhere and seeming as the AU is long gone I might dig that out

Certainly different ideas there!! Can't knock you guys for thinking, thats for sure. Personally, it would take a bit of getting used to. I'm not quite sure how the square bars fit with the sweeping headlights. I have always liked the TS-50 lower bar that Fibre Sports sell for the series 1's. Would be a lot easier to go with, but wheres the fun in that right!!

TS kit is just the natural 'match' so to speak. Personally, I reckon the Rebel kit would be just as good, if not better! (I'm not biased much! )

That'd look really good. You need to paint the inside of the headlights t series style though and it'd look a million bucks.

I dont mind that. I dont see why they couldnt release a grill like that for the S1s.

because the bottom of the grill sits lower than what the top of a standard bar does (look at the lights) and the xr grill is wider than the standard lights. It would have taken to much tweaking to make it fit

Cheers

Im sure it could have been done. A simular looking grill, fitting the s1, with all the after market and original s1 grill options, it wouldnt have been too hard.

Yeah T1 TE bar would be the best option ... still a sleek looking bar ... and not as "look at me" as the later model TS bars with the driving lights in them.
