Default Quickest street registered GT in Australia?

For those that don't know Adam (Detroit Customs) ran a 10.56@129.9mph XBGT four door, with sunroof on Friday night through a manual, although not a toploader as that called it quits at the WSID drag day still HUGELY IMPRESSIVE.

Possibly could have gone faster with clutch adjustment, BUT were kindly asked to leave WSID as car had no cage etc.

Although ET droppped there was not much of an improvement anywhere else ( I think it actaully 60ft quicker and mph higher with toppie) but Adam and Sash can correct me if I am wrong.

Anyway BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Adam and Sash and team from ANRACING.

JOB WELL DONE

UNBELIEVABLE one qik GT.

The XB is old school kind of not as shocking, STILL VERY IMPRESSIVE both cars.

Sash (ANRACING) believes theres a bit more in the XB with some tinkering, got booted straight after the pass :(

I have been told this is the combo for the XBGT

427ci small block

CHI 3V's

TFC

950 HP!

11:1 comp

roller cam

Jericho box

4.88 gears

546hp at the rear wheels

full weight car with full trim, no glass panels etc

I really cant see how it will be quicker with a toploader over a race dog box myself, but we all have an opinion I spose..

Nice time..

Nice time..

From memory with toppie ET over 1/2 sec slower, pb 60ft was 1.45 and pb 130.1 mph.

Easy to answer your question toppie (toppie and shifter obviously NOT standard) times etc was after nearly 2yrs getting it to it's best, race box was after a few passes, with clutch adjustment NOT at it's best...dare say the race box would get better with adjustment and practice etc.

But you are right we all have our opinion.

By the way, the person you referred to inthe 600hp toppie post, (having the yellow coupe) this car belongs to his cousin, so you can get the direct inside word as you are connected so to speak.

cheers

The XW or XY from Trick & Mansweto has ran in the 9's.
That's got to be up there amongst the fastest street registered GT's?

Ok sorry I spose I better learn to read,
I thought you were saying it was quicker with a toploader,
if it 60' footed better with the toploader I would say thats clutch related or some other part of the setup, and there would be more in it..

These quickest street car topics are a can of worm's,one persons street car is another person's race car and so on,then whats the difference between a GT and a fairmont/falcon in these types of modded cars?
The tag's are about the only thing to distinguish them..
There are a few faster street rego'd falcons getting about with similar engines in them...

Im not 100% sure (no doubt someone will confirm or deny lol) but hasn't that XW got an aftermarket block in it? Legitimate rego could be a hassle with no engine number.

wasn't there a fella calles Johnny Demertzis with a xagt coupe packing a monster cube engine that ran 8s about 10 years ago? That was just out of street machine from memory. It was street registered, but questionably legal.
I am not raining on your parade, because that time is very impressive. I just agree with the can of worms being opened.

Questionably legal? I would say that about this XBGT running 10.56@129.9mph as well. Big ask to pass all the tests.

Can of worms.. haha

Here we go again, define legal and in which state.
Some states, with the right rego person, will define "street legal' as a fully tubbed XB coupe running a 508 KB with an 8/71 blower. :

That's why we say "can of worms". All we need now is for the argument about running slicks or not!

Its not that hard for these pre adr27 car's to be legal in this type of trim.
It passes the weight to capacity test in NSW,it would *probably* even be legal with the dog box in it,but driving it in city traffic would be a chore, you would want some road ranger experience thats for sure :

Jeff from CV, his BA GT has run a 10.7 @ 126 (I think) full trim and registered, although it had 100shot of nitrus up its ar$e for that run whcih then doesn't make it street legal. I think without the NOS it was 11.1's.

Im not sure how long some of these "street registered" cars would remain "street registered" if they had to pass a properly conducted roadworthy...

This is a serious question ok and i am not doubting the figures.......

Can someone please explain to me the loss of 404hp at the rear wheels, 950-546=404....

I know you lose a certain amount between engine and rear wheels but this seems a lot to me, almost inefficient, is this the norm.....

I was running 9.8 at 139mph about 13 years ago in full street trim and with full NSW rego all metal and glass, but that was in my old Capri GT with a 454 I had realy run off the rails back then, Im alot slower and older now but blue oval all the way. To get in the 10s in a full body XB how good is that
