I think in 20 years any model Falcon in good condition will be a classic. The streets will be full of soul less front drive hybrid & electric toasters & anything with a bit of character will be looked upon as classic by those of us fortunate enough to be around during a time of relatively cheap large rear drive high horsepower cars from a time when Australia actually made something.

Anything rwd. I can see the BA and BF XR range being the biggest classics just because they came in so many great hero colours and were probably the most popular amongst us all. I always enjoy seeing a clean example in Bionic Blue, Blood Orange, Rapid Yellow, Toxic etc etc on the road.

What would I know, I've already sold 2 XW's an EA SPack Manual and a 265 Charger as well as a mint Mazda RX4......who knew any of them would be worth anything????

Even sold a Valiant 770 Regal, apparently they are even worth money now.

I would have needed a big shed an a lot of money to have kept all my cars just in case.

The imaginary, legendary 5 second Aurion will most certainly be an air classic in time. I'm going to buy 5000 of them and store them next to my air guitars...

It's funny, apart from my P6 LTD, not many here would consider the rest of my cars as approaching classic status.

I will tell you this......ALL of them turn heads. They are all mint and it's pretty rare for those cars to be in that condition these days. They are already rare compared to the new and mundane out there.

Another 10 - 20 years, anything can happen.

Besides medical issues, my father in law still believes his 76 kingswood wagon, good condition 138k miles (yes miles) 6 seat 3 speed manual column shift with the manual wind down rear windscreen is his family fortune. Boosted brakes, no, power steering, no, giant gts steering wheel to compensate for the no power steering, no. Maybe 5k to 10 for someone who wanted to bin the 202 with its single throat stromberg and throw a 308 in and put a premier front end on it with brakes and an electric rear window. Give it another 10 or even 20 years then someone might take up the chalenge of a 3 speed manual column shift single throat barge and it will then be collectable.

HSV XU6?
.....I kid. lol

T3 to me is the big one, specials like the Ambrose, Ingall & Lowndes cars maybe.
R specs will potentially be desirable.

Will the V8 still be the dominant engine choice?
Coyote is great but the turbo 6 models have quite a reputation with younger generation.

I just feel sorry for all the P players putting exhausts & rims on Mazdas & Hyundais.
It's only going to become more common. :(

Australia went metric in 74. Early HQ's were the last MPH speedos, mid series had both MPH and KPH and the late ones were KPH only. 76 was HJ or HX depending on the month and would be KPH. If he has a 76 HJ of HX with a MPH speedo then it's the only one so maybe he's on to something.
