Just saw an ad for this on fox8 earlier today. Looks like they've rebadged the chevy version and changed the front grille slightly. Good to see they finally ditched the god awful Isuzu rodeo, now we have to put up with a chevy instead >.<
Thoughts? http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/ and go to number 7

looks way better than before IMO. the new front is great.
checked one out at the local dealer the other day, im pretty sure its all rodeo as per the old one, just a running update. i read the new name is something to do with naming rights, holden no longer owning the Rodeo nameplate Last edited by LUXO_8; 27-07-2008 at 07:26 PM. |

Because GM sold Isuzu and Isuzu told Holden to get effed and stopped them using their name and design, the Colorado is completely different, before the Rodeo was a rebadged Isuzu, now its a rebadged Colorado

Um, it's still an Isuzu isn't it? I thought Isuzu just took back the rights to the Rodeo name.
Then again, the Chevy Colorado does look pretty similar. Unless they are all from Isuzu.... http://www.chevrolet.com/colorado/ Lukeyson

The colorado is still a rodeo, just made in another country,in a different factory!
Gm sold Isuzu, which owned the Rodeo NAME,but both companys developed the ute so both will manufacture it in there own factory's. Expect to see the Rodeo at Isuzu dealers shortly.

the new colorado dosent look to bad but i wish they would put bigger motors in them. 4cyl turbo diesel is not good for towing wake boats.

He may be talking about the old Rodeo turbo diesel, they were 95 odd kw and were slow even pulling their own weight, the recent common rail 3.0L upgrade should do it just fine. |

not incredibly different from the last Rodeo underneath the new face and name, however the mix of the gullible public and Holden's great marketing it will probably sell as well as the Hilux

Maybe because Colarado is rugged mountainous country, just like its 4wd is made for??
Either that or they sell quite a few of them in Denver? Still looks like an improvement, the Rodeo's werent bad at all for the price they were going for, looks like they went one better again.

Looks better.
Off topic but there will soon be another new ute on the market here too! It comes from China so no doubt it won't be all that safe, or well built. But well here it is! It's called a Great Wall and it looks like an old Rodeo with Navara headlights! ![]()

Like so many Holdens now, it looks uninspiring.
The chrome on the Ranger makes it look far, far tougher. The "Colorado" already looks outdated. However, it will still sell because it "Goes Better"

As a Ranger owner and someone who has spent a lot of time in various Rodeos, I reckon the Colarado looks pretty good.
The Colarodo looks a million percent better than the current Rodeo, who's headlights make the car loook like it's suffering a bad case of constipation.... The current Rodeo is pretty good unit (other than looks), heaps of room, quite and they now have a bit of go about them with the Common Rail TD Engine. As the Rodeo and Colardo are not only built on the same platform (Ala Ranger and BT-50) and at the same factory, I think they'll be reasonably well built and probably well priced. |

We just bought one a few weeks ago, and ill give a quick review of it.
its a crew cab, low ride , with a canopy , 3.6 v6 with 4 speed auto. ill also compare this to my 2006 Mazda bravo also a 3.5 v6 with a 5 speed manual. The colorado is a standard 4x2 does most of the things we need it to do and does most of the things my bravo can do apart from go over high dirt mounds ( because the mazda is a high ride and colorado is low ride ). The one down side to the car is the engine and auto, you put your foot down and there is a small delay on acceleration, then it kicks in nice and smooth , the thing can really go. On the other hand my bravo is much faster but just as smooth, i plant the foot down and i can keep up with a falcon ( and yes this thing can keep up ). Handling on the colorado is standard you feel the weight so you take the corner a little slower , also the steering is heavier then the bravo i can drive the bravo with one finger if i wanted to, and the car is much better around corners even though it does under steer slightly.( but this is due to the fact that i need new tyrs ) space at the back for passengers in the colorado is better then the bravo because the seats are angled rather then upright. space in the trays are about the same. the looks i feel go to the Colorado, it looks a little edgier then the bravo. sound system in the colorado is much better then the bravo, with 6 speakers standard in the colorado and 2 speakers in the bravo. electric windows and mirrors are also standard in the colorado , the bravo is all manual windows and mirrors. over all i like the bravo better because of its engine characteristics, and handling. we payed 32 grand for the mazda when we first bout it. and we payed 35 grand, for the colorado down from 42 grand , lol we told the sales man we could only pay 34grand then worked from there. The Colorado is a good car, if some one is going to mention the ranger or hilux , we dint buy them because of size and price my father doesnt like overly large cars he works alot in the city and the Colorado was the right size and price. |

Funny you should say that the Ranger and Hilux are larger than the Colorado. My brother has a current model Rodeo and it's definitely larger on the inside and the outside to my Ranger. He's 6'4" and 140kg and he's comfortable in the Rodeo, fits in the Ranger but has real difficulty in a Hilux.
Campare their specs and the Rodeo and Hilux are nearly the same width and length, while the Ranger is about 80mm narrower but around the same length. Ranger makes up for the smaller cabin with a longer tub. Seeing the Colorado is a twin to the Rodeo, I'm surprised that you think it's small. |

I did a full comparison on Ranger vs. Coloardo not long ago. I found these interesting points:
1. Colorado's cheap base model single c/cab DX 4x2 at $19,990 is PETROL only (12L/100km!). If you want a diesel you have to get into the much more expensive 3.0L. For a grand more you can buy the Ranger 2.5L diesel and it has power windows, mirrors and keyless entry. It tows better, has bigger wheels, turbo diesel power and 8.3L/100km 2. Colorado super cab does not has 4 doors, Ranger does. 3. In every model, with the same engine, the Ranger is far cheaper. 4. Ranger 3.0L engine produces more torque then the Colorado. 5. Yes, the Colorado LX models come std with ABS and EBS, but you can get the optional safety pack on Ranger and still be cheaper then Holden!

ohhh i see this is gonna become one of those threads, the ranger is better because so and so.
the ranger isnt cheaper i know i went comparing prices, and as for it being smaller i dont think it is not by its looks anyways. this wasnt ment to be a ****ing contest just a review on a product that some one might buy. and please dont mention it is a ford forum, id like to think this is a car forum. |
