Firstly I'd like to say you have a very informative site here. Looks like I will be able to glean heaps of good info form here.
I just bought a AUIII Forte and the ball joint mounts for the boot shocks are rusted pretty badly. The car is less than 5 years old and in the warranty book I got with the car it states that there is a 5 year corrosion perforation warranty. Does this warranty apply to me seeing as I am not the original owner? The car is in excellent condition otherwise. |

This was, and still is, a common problem
The corrosion warranty should cover you but doubt Ford will honour it for boot joints. Where you should look is up under the door sills from the bottom of the car, (around the vertical piece where the jacking point is) this was a well known rust spot as well Easiest way is take off struts, clean balls, bit of grease and put back I had all my taxis rust there but none ever snapped or anything, it just looks bad. |

My wifes forte has rusted here and one side has snapped off. Its a 99 model though! My xr8 is yet to show any sign of it though and its an 01 model
