It is not possible unless you add a chip to change fuel maps for the BBM.

I went from 97rwkw to 88rwkw with a BBM as the top end ran way to rich to make power.

I put in a frequency switcher from Jaycar cost about $35

If you stay below 3,800rpm most of the time then its fine, if you always boot it then your economy will be awful.

so if i was lucky enough to find an EL manual ecu, would i be able to run it in my EBII without the bbm at the moment? then later on down the track install the bbm?

yes you can but no point putting a el computer with a eb manifold el computer has different fuel/ignition maps which i dont think will not suit the eb manifold anyway

My EB never pinged with BBM and EL ECU.

The EL ECU will plug straight into smartlock EBII/ED. Just got to add all the relevant wires and you're set. Trip computer won't work properly though.

I now have the BBM working with the frequency switch setup. It doesnt run rich however the only issue i have is that the idle is high but slowly drops back to 800. It is most likely a vac leak.

One thing i did do is use all the ea sensors.

I used all EA sensors and still do no idle problems at all.

It will run rich in the top end, put it on a dyno and you will see it (it caused me to go from 96 to 88 rwkw), otherwise below 3,800rpm economy is good and the occassional boot full does not hurt economy much.
